Iphone no reception in China? I gave my old iphone (not 3G, previous gen) to my younger brother cause i got the xperia (which does not live up the all its hype at all, i want iphone back ) and he just went to China for vacation to visit family but he said once he put in the new sims card he bought there his iphone receives no reception whatsoever. He tried playing with the settings stuff but apparently still nothing works =/ Anyone know why that is? Experience anything similar with their iphones when they traveled to China? It's jail broken of course and it's been a little over a year since it was bought. The main reason im asking is cause i want to buy a new 3G to replace the xPeria but i dont want to buy it and have it not work when I travel to China in 2 weeks as well cause that would just suck </3 |

Weird. My dad brought his 2G with him to HK and Guangzhou and had no problems. He used a HK simcard and a China simcard without any problems. |
jailbroken =/= unlocked at least, that was back in the day. |
take note there are rumors that China may try to block (or get Apple to disable some of the iPhone's capabilities, including accepted networks. they are trying to get a monopoly or something stupid. |
Quote:
Unlocked = remove carrier subsidy lock (so you can use it on other carrier's networks. i.e. use a Rogers phone on AT&T network) Jailbroken = allow you to use non Apple signed apps on your iPhone/iPod Touch. (i.e. install "cracked" games or unsigned code such as homebrew apps) If it hasn't been unlocked you won't be able to use it on another carrier. |
Did you use redsn0w to unlock? If so tell him to do this: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=2538 simple |
