[SFU] Retaking a course twice

So, I fucked myself over by retaking a course and fucking up the second time around too - now I'm fucked cause I can't retake it again. What are my options? Who the fuck do I talk to and will they allow me to take the fucking course again? :fuuuuu:

CRS 07-13-2009 05:01 PM

Academic Advisor.

It is a little late to say you wanted to audit the course but try and talk to them and see if they'll let you retake. I don't know what your chances are as I've never encountered this particular issue. Make an appointment and see what your options are.

Dr-Vn 07-13-2009 08:17 PM

^^ thought you can retake a course the same course 3 times max?

sas 07-13-2009 08:22 PM

Me too. Isn't 3 times the max?

E N D L E S S S 07-14-2009 04:21 PM

I thought it was 3 times too... but I heard that you need special permission to take it the 3rd time from the dean of the faculty or something?

way2quik 07-14-2009 07:46 PM

i thought the 2nd time you take it that was it. Unless SFU recently changed its policy.
But yes, an advisor is who you need to talk to.

Third time you'll need to talk to the dean of the program/faculty.

I just asked a friend who knows someone that did it. She only got to retake because she cried her eyes out infront of dean. I hope you're woman enough to do the same.

God damnit, FML.

Well, let's be honest here..

How did you manage to fail the second time around?

way2quik 07-15-2009 10:23 PM

OT here, but it's not that hard to fail twice. lol. I took CRIM 321-Quant Research, and my classmate almost failed it a second time. Same prof, same exam, same assignment different data.
To put it bluntly, no one can afford to fail a course at SFU.

I blame nobody but myself. I did the same shit the second time around - not going to class and not doing any homework. I guess the upside to this is at least I'm not on a/p.

OT: I took CRIM 321 and can see why your friend probably failed the first time. I took it by distance (WORST MISTAKE EVER), failed the final (it was my fault though because I never bothered to keep up with the material; granted, it was difficult and I would have understood it better if it was taught in person), but I got an A on the essay which was worth 40% and ended up with a C+ final.
But yeah... hard to explain nearly failing it the second time if you had the same prof and exact same material.

I failed MACM seven times.

Quickshifter 07-23-2009 03:44 PM

You'll need good convincing skills to convince the dean...

1) Which MACM?
2) How did you convince the dean to let you retake it so many times?

7 is more than the maximum amount of fails allowed EVER
