The Hurt Locker

it's in the theaters right now, it's about bomb squad in Iraq to diffuse bombs during the wars / streets of Iraq. There were a few awards and nominations regarding this film. The bomb diffusing parts, the guns, the shooting were great, however, the army not following protocol, being rambo is just not realistic.

I really can't give you too much details on this because as much as all the hype and promo on the movie, I did not think it delivered in the script department. Feel free to chip in because I wasnt' too satisfied watching this film hoping there would be more.

Script 6.5/10
action 7/10
overall: a good rental, but you'll fall asleep during 3/4 of the way.

WOW really??? you rated this movie that low? I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I like these type of movies that deviate from the standard Hollywood styles.

It was intense throughout. Acting, superb.

I wish there were more movies like this, it's a breath of fresh air.

The only thing I found was that the movie was too long and didnt seem to go anywhere..
It almost seemed like they could have split it up into 4 episodes and made it a tv show..

I really enjoyed this movie, it certainly didn't feel long at all. This isn't an "action" movie but delivers on suspense and strong acting. Its not a plot driven movie as much as it is learning about the characters and how the events unfold and affect their lives.

Very, VERY good movie. If you went to see it for the action, you didn't get it. Go stick to Transformers or something.

Watching this kinda reminded me of watching Jarhead....zero action but enjoyable nonetheless.

Despite the action this movie was INTENSE. Every bomb scene has you on the edge of your seat.

The movie was marketed as action but it didn't come off as action so I was a bit disappointed. I do appreciate a movie with a decent script, I didn't really buy into it.
I'm not in the army so I'm really not sure but there's no way Jeremy Renner (the main character) being in the army to go against orders and protocol; throwing smoke bombs, running away from base camp into town at night was just like wtfff.

I'm also not a bomb person but to me, he made it so easy, snip snip snip.... but yes, there were a few intense moments. At the end of the movies, aside from a few "eureka" moments from Sanborn (the token black guy i think), i wasn't too satisified. like penner2k said, it didn't really go anywhere.

These are IEDs and makeshift explosives made from rather crude materials, old mines and elementary blasting caps. They're not complicated, crazy "mix these two chemicals" bombs with a shit ton of wires. They're mostly gas canisters with ball bearings and a small detonator. For the most part, they have a few wires and cutting any of them will defuse the bomb.

In one of the scenes the mentioned "let the engineers handle it!" I assume that means these bomb tech's are frontline guys there to handle any simple explosives and are readily available. Anything not handled by them is given to more designated specialists.

engineers are probably only put into the positions once they are safe, like when they evacuated the UN building etc.

the only BS thing about the movie was that guy picking off the brit's with an AK47 at 800 yards

other then that it was a pretty good movie, the ending was very well done

^ never really got a clear shot of it, and it looked like an AK when he was hanging out the window, but even with the draunov, it wouldnt be nearly as accurate as the .50 cal rifle they had with a bi-pod

I was thinking that too, but then again they weren't actual trained snipers, so I think it would be kinda off if they were able to just pick off the guys no problem.

the movie had no plot whatsoever and there's nothing new that i could take from that movie. however i did want to see what's it like to be in iraq as an american soldier and for that and that alone, i would rate it as a good movie.

otherwise, its as good for plot as a porn flick.

Directed by Kathryn Bigelow.... waste of what could have been a decent movie.
Any other director would have exploited this movie to its full potential... This movie has Point Break written all over it..
There was some decent camera work... especially the high speed camera explosions.. other than that.. blah..... Most anticipated.... yet....disappointing war movie for me..
