| where to get Free Radiator/Coolant/etc estimation?
Currently i'm having problem with
a. Turn signal
(randomly pops up and doesnt flash on speedo+outside, only passenger side)
and
b. car/engine gets HOT very often/quick.
(needle indicationg temp. on speedo hits more than 3rd quater , even 'H')
so,
i wanna get my car checked up on both electrical area + Radiator/coolant/AC etc.
was wondering if there's any shop offering free estimation?
many shops+dealership asks $80+ per hr JUST for an estimation.
since i dont wanna take some 'possible' assumtions from some random shops , pay $, fix, and end up having same problems again
(yes, it happened before -_-)
Thanks in advance.

turn signal could be a burnt bulb or a bad relay - nothing huge
radiator...could be a stuck / sticking thermostat. does the car eventually go back to normal?

according to Honda Standard, driving in temperature of 32+ degree celcius is considered as "SEVER condition". So, your engine getting hot might still be within range. But once it hit "HOT", or that's over the top is definately something wrong, either a leaking radiator = losing pressure , or low on fluid?

First problem can be anything from a burnt out light bulb to some wiring issues. Second problem sounds like your thermostat might be sticking, just like Volvo-brickster said.

I'm just restating what honda listed out.

though u dont want to, if engine temp reads hot or hotter than normal, turn on the fans to "heat" i know its stupid in this weather, but try it, if the temp goes back to normal, then most likely its ur thermostat. those go after a few years in all honda's.

get a cheap coolant tester. make sure it's clean and rated hot/cold enough. if it's dirty, get some rad flush, cheap and easy. if the coolant is still clean and good, then clean out your rad (go to a self serve car wash, blast that rad from the engine side with the pressure washer) and get a new t-stat. if you do this all yourself it'll be cheap, espeically compared to cooking your motor.

Why not just try and trace the problems yourself?
Check for leaky rad. If there's no leaks and it's still overheating chances are it's a faulty thermostat or water pump.

I dunno I was waxing my Friends mkV GTi and the hood was after an hour of being parked in the shade and being washed... So i'm thinking can a few degrees of outside temperature even affect these components that much?

^ yes, but the heat doesn't affect that, it's the ability of the rad to dump heat to the atmosphere, and the ability of the sitting motor (when parked) to dump heat. It isn't absorbing heat from outside (unless it's been parked a while as is stone cold)
and yes, you can get all that at CT. Probably less than $50 for everything. Oil/fluid change shops usually have testers for coolant as well, if you don't want to do the work yourself at least go ask one to check it and if the coolant is bad, get them to flush it.

It sounds like you are just giving all the suggestions the lip service and tell the shop you eventually will go the list so that you sound you know what's wrong??
The point about a trusted shop is it is a lot like human relationship.. you just have to do it to find out.
Select a shop for this list and go from there. Quote:

i suggest getting an oem original honda thermostat. the oem one will fail faster than the oem honda one. unless ur going performance and getting something like a mugen or buddyclub thermostat.
oem one should be around 50 bucks i believe.
