You can get a Visa on arrival or try:

Vietnam Travel Centre
Phone :
(604) 639-5100

Address :
2140 Kingsway, Vancouver, BC V5N2T5

I got my first Visa from them a few years ago and everything went very smoothly. If you need it quickly then you can get it expedited but will cost more.

I would recommend getting the Visa in advance even if it is a bit more expensive. You do not want to get off a plane after a day of flying to deal with immigration.

More specifically, we'll be in Nha Trang Sep. 6 - Sep. 8, hey boss_clad, can you hook up a hotel for those nights? And what would I be looking at price wise?

We'll be in Vung Tau from the 4th-6th, then fly up to Nha Trang 6th-8th, then we're going back to Saigon from the 8th-10th and then it's on to HK

What's fun to do in Nha Trang at night? Club?

little tip for you arirang, after u get out of the hanoi airport ( that is if no one is picking you up ) go get some money exchanged and go all the way right hand side of the airport terminal and there will be buses that will take you into the city for 30k dong which is like 1.30 cdn, dont get into the meter taxis or or motobike guys as theyll rip you off and try to make u pay way more

or pay around 300k and not deal with other peoples B.O., picking noses, other smells, constant stops, no AC, etc....

Hanoi Airport Taxi is perfectly fine.

Boss, whats good in SGN right now? Da Nang is boring as shit. Have you heard anything about a new Restaurant called Chill being built on the top of ACB Tower? Ive been offered a job there but probably gonna turn it down.
i've been in nha trang for awhile, just came back from sgn last week for my bday, but i heard canalis was pretty good, and gossip just renovated and recruited hotter PR.

i liked going to kbars for a little period... catwalk, royale, 166 or 13... and those are listed in $ order.. catwalk being the most expensive ( look tospend bout $1500 for a good time with 4 guys max)...13 is the cheapest, but it still has some hot girls ( look tospend bout $400 with 6 guys)... don't tip under $50 at these places.

nothing sleazy too... just hot girls pouring your beer dancing and singing.. like a hot modern day geisha

these girls don't fuck you unless they like you. there's no monetary price you can pay.

Good to see the KTV and KBars in Saigon on stepping up their game on the level of Singapore.

7seven: I really can't stand all these idiots who hit the gym now just because they watched 300 and want to be like a spartan. Case in point, this skinny guy comes into the gym the other day, must have only weighed ~ 140lbs, loads on 2 plates on the bench rack, mutters to himself, for sparta, unracks the barbell and proceeds to drop it directly on his chest.

Hey Boss_Clad, the wife and I are heading to HCM on Dec. 31 - Jan. 25. We don't really have a plan on what to do yet other than to do a North-South (or reverse) tour of Vietnam. If we have the time, we'll likely hit up the Maldives outside of Vietnam.

Would love to hear your advice on where we should go and what we should do.

We're not the party type (28-30 y/o). Looking to go on a guided tour of Nam that includes accommodations, transfers, and meals. Got any ideas? BTW, my mother-in-law will be with us for part of the trip; so minimum 2 ppl and sometimes 3.

Do you have any referrals for guides? How about tour companies for guided tours both inside and outside Nam?

Thanks in advance for the tips.

sorry for the late reply, i'm getting my staff to find the best north-south tour company for you.

in your case, i'd go south-north cause the best way to end the trip is ha long bay, now one of the new wonders of the world.

you'll find the most culture in central vietnam when you hit hoi an and hue (viet nams old captial) where it's ancient, and has many types of great vietnamese food that isn't pho or lemongrass chicken.

nha trang, danang got some good beaches, good for stopping to relax and recharge. dalat is in the mountains, and has some very beautiful scenery and cold weather.

saigon is only good for partying, and checking out wartime stuff, like cu chi tunnels and such. they try hard to be westernized and it ends up like a bangkok 15 years ago. you should only go to saigon with the boys lol

i would suggest:

hcmc > nha trang > dalat > da nang > hoi an > hanoi > ha long bay

scottsman has probably been to more places in vietnam than i have, so hopefully he can give his input.

i'll get back to you on the recommended tour company this week.

adrnlnrush00 if possible I would suggest being in Nha Trang for NYE. They have a beach side club and restaurant called Sailing Club that always throws a really good party.

Boss has recommended the main cities to go to, could pretty much just follow the coast and hit each one on the way. Da Nang/Hoi An/Hue are all with in driving distance of 2 hours or less. Could do Phan Thiet/Mui Ne or Vung Tau. Not sure about your budget but if you have a chance I would check out Con Dao Island and stay at Six Senses there.

This is one thing i dont enjoy about being in southeast asia.

Here, when i shoo mosquitoes away, they fly off somewhere.
In asia, i try to swat a mosquito away with my hand, only to have the thing try to dodge it and land on my hand.

Sometimes they dont even flinch, and bite you and force u to kill it while its sucking your blood.

Thanks Scottsman for the tips.

My flight leaves Vancouver on the 31st at 0100hrs so I'll be in the air when New Year's Eve. As for Tet, I'll be going home on the 25th so will have just missed that too.

As for the budget, I'm not a baller but this is our last big trip before settling down to have kids so I'm willing to credit and forget-it! I'll google the Six Senses.

Whereabouts in VN are you Scotts?

Phu Quoc is also pretty nice and I think the weather should be good during your visit. Island off the southern part of Vietnam, can access from Saigon.

I am based in Da Nang.

Feel free to PM me to discuss further. If you come through the Central Coast area there are a couple good resorts here that are nice. Newly opened Hyatt and Nam Hai are my favorites.
