Just look at consumer report .. the impreza matches honda's reliablity last i checked and has a pretty good resale value. It is also one of Consumer reports recommended cars.

It's got the cylinder deactivation thingy... as long as you're not too heavy on the go pedal people are getting ~20 mpg/12ish l/100km on Edmunds.com

wrx offers more for the money, mini has nice handling but in terms of real world usability and day to day fun I'd get a wrx. Although the new ones are completely lacking in character albeit faster/more torque and have a better from factory chassis, If I never owned a wrx and wasnt in the market for the STi, I'd get a a bugeye 02 GDA all over again, just would have to make sure the 5spd isn't shot to hell from previous owners launching the shit out of it and watchout for the strange ABS behavior.

Newer models I'm sure don't have any issues with the ABS but if you do plan on getting the new body style make sure you get a 09 if that's the case, since the 2008 WRX's were too softly sprung and lacked all the improvements the '09s got as a result of customer feedback. The 2009 WRX's are great cars all year around and can provide enough quick thrills to keep you satiated.

Does the mini actually handle better though? I know it's sharper, but as far as limit goes is it any better on the track?

obviously getting the 265, the 2010 is the one with the cheaper lease rate neways, if u want an 09 its like almost $100 more a month...

I think what i'll do is wait another year and look at the STI :P
The wrx was my childhood dream car and with these attractive lease rates maybe I can reach this dream sooner than I thought

WRONG. Subaru of Canada is increasing the lease Payment for the WRX( not the lease Interest rate ). It was only $370/mo with tax [ with 10% downpayment ]when the 2009 WRX265 first came out. And it's now around $500/mo.

^I know! I was looking at the car like 3 months ago, and it was way cheaper then, It was around $600 a month for the STi I believe, but now the 2010 is the cheaper one at the moment, if u look on the site...

For the 09 on 0 down it's 610 for 24 months

The engine failures have probably been addressed in the 2010 model anyways.

As for Niteraven's AWD mini, it's gonna be hella expensive, wouldn't even have to think about taking an STi over it...

The 2010 wrx's have a higher residual, hence the lower payments I believe... actually, that's the reason I went and got one myself... Once I test drove it, that smile on my face sealed the deal for me...

"If you really don't mind getting a car made from the tears of 6 Million jews while trying to establish a 1000 year Reich which resulted in their defeat over the Southern Skies of Great Britain. Get the Mini

Otherwise get the WRX."

Uh...there was another party involved in WW2...they build the Subaru. Ask about their POW camps. OBTW, in case you didn't know...the MINI is built in Oxford England. These days the parent companies own all sorts of cars...may as well hold off buying any Chrysler products as another WW2 looser owns them too. Heard of Fiat?

if backseats are going to be an issue, get the wrx.

Mini wins in the styling department, and handling is awesome.

WRX is faster and probably more fun to mod too.

That cars resale value doesn't look promising either...

Lol Elkayem, didn't I post that video of the wrx?
Does it really need YOU to post it for me to know it? :P

It's all over youtube, c'mon.

I've probably seen every good STI/WRX video on youtube there is.

And if you're an average sized guy, you look really homosexual in the Mini.

If you're a typical 5'3" Asian Honger kid. Get the Mini. *cough*

P.S - Try to PM tatsu02, he used to have a Mini Cooper-S, and he switched over to the 09' WRX 265. Ask him for opinions about it...I'm sure he'd know best having own both cars before.

So i had/have both

Cooper S:

WRX:

The new wrx and cooper S both have pretty good interior quality, the mini will be nicer though( bmw quality) subarus have really improved since the last gen.

performance wise... the 4wd turbo will win in acceleration for sure, but the mini really isnt that bad and it's handling feels ALOT better
wrx's have really soft steering/suspension and really weak brakes, and i have the 09 which is supposingly alot better than 08/ regular wrx

exterior wise is really up to personal preference but yea alot of ppl will think you're gay for driving a mini and your friends will hate you cuz they barely fit in the back

the aftermarket support for GR chassis is still building up and 2nd hand parts arent that easy to come pass unlike the GD chassis
the mini has a pretty good market already but i'm sure wrx will have a crapload more parts avaliable
so far i can say it is alot more fun modding the wrx... stage 2 power!

if you have more questions just ask but just go test drive them both!
