| Delaying SFU convocation date
I am a SFU BBA student and had originally registered for convocation this October. I just finished my last set of classes this summer. I have been offered a position in Asia, which starts the first week of September. Therefore I will be I will unable to attend the convocation ceremony, and trying to push back it to June.
I emailed some folks from the registrar department, and they told me that I am unable to push back the convocation date, because its not their policy to make exceptions unless its like a life and death situation. I know of several students that delayed their convocation. Whether or not they had originally applied for convocation, not too sure. Anyways is this lady just BS'ing me? Any ways around this?
Thanks guys.

Opportunity > convocation though.

The only way to do this is to cancel your application for graduation.

If you graduate in Dec 2009 but convo in June 2010, you are still considered a 2009 graduate right? Also, lets say you finish your school in Dec 2009, when you tell potential employers you are graduated, the only official way to prove that is just a transcript because you have no other documents supporting your claim, am I right?

figure that one out.... | Feb 09 is the date when your degree was conferred. It goes back to the old tradition of the senate conferring your degree on the recommendation of the department. Takes time to review applicants.
