The only company that recommends using water as lube is Bilt Hamber. Most clays are designed to be used with an appropriate lube. Soapy water can work but from experience, will only cause the clay to break down faster. The Clay Magic lube I sell has proven to stay wetter longer than any other lube I have tried.

All depends how dirty the cars are. The Acura I just did barely got the bar dirty. As well, I always cut the bar into 4-5 pieces. That way if you drop a piece, you're not out an entire bar. I know some shops that will dispose of the portion of clay they used after each vehicle. Not a bad idea. I always use the ClayMagic lube regardless of which bar I choose. Do the hood, roof and trunklid first as they are typically the areas free from road tar etc. Then work your way front to back just like when you are washing the car. Use light pressure. Let the clay shear off the contaminants. Don't put a lot of pressure on the clay as even mild bars will marr if you use too much pressure. Lightly go back and forth until the clay glides smoothly and its quiet when sliding over the panel.

Exactly. Just remember to use enough lube to keep the clay gliding smoothly. Don't cheap out on the lube. It'll keep the clay from marring the paint and potentially hitting a dry area, causing you to drop the clay and having to throw it out. Thats why I cut my bars into three or four smaller pieces.

Just get the BH Soft Clay Bar from Ken, it's HUGE (200gr) and cheap ($26) in comparison to the other brands. Plus, no need to spend $$ on lube, which is nice.
I'd stay away from that Ice Liquid Clay stuff... doesn't look promising.

I've used the Ice spray detailer and it's great, but as for Ice Wax itself, can't say the same. But car wash is decent, although no one really cares about car wash that much neways XD

Breaking down the claybar faster, possible scratching/marring if the clay is rough and sticky.

I was claying and waxing yesterday... Ran out of my meguiars spray bottle
Every panel was clayed except for the hood and the front bumper... lol i think i shoulda reversed that XD
Damn why do they give you so much clay and so little lube?
That package is a really good deal though, I think I'll just go to crappy tire and buy 2 extra spray bottles |

Quick detailer also works as a clay lube if you're looking for alternatives.

I think the mother's claybar package has 2 80gram clays and the meguire's claybar package has 2 100gram clays, the rest of the stuff inside the box are the same. the price difference is only 3-4 dollars.

Now Mother's gives you 160g (2x80) of clay and 1 bottle of QD - you run out of QD fast! Plus a microfiber towel. It's quite good for the price actually.

yeah, two 80grams clay, 1 quick detailer, 1 small bottle of wax and a microfiber towel for less than 30 bucks is a good deal.
I think Meg is the same, but two 100 grams clay.

PISSED!!! Bought a bottle of the meguiars clay lube/ detailer whatever its called at crappy tire stood at the self checkout angrily for 5 mins trying to work it (@ cambie, next day found out the one in richmond worked a lot better for some reason...)
2 days ago, was down at wal mart in the states and same product might've been the meguiars one, $5... And the meguiars clay thats $30 here, is only $15 at wal mart, their car wash and other products are a lot cheaper too. FUCK!!! next time imma buy all my crappy tire products at wal mart instead...
