which D16 is it? look at this site, theres tons of info on how to build up a D http://www.d-series.org long live the D! |
The question is rather vague.. what do you want to do? just a reburishment? bore out? Basic things you should do: 0. Figure out your goals, get the manual for torque specs etc. 1. Measure what you have, leak down etc. 2. Teardown and evaluate the engine.. ie check for wear in block and components, hot tank and leak check... blue print the engine. 3. Purchase parts and gasket sets. 4. Machine if needed. 5. Reassemble, check for leaks etc, engine stand run etc. Engine assembly is not too hard, it takes patience. Everyone has to start somewhere, so start at where it is simple and relatively low cost. Documentation I think is very important.. so get a good lab book.. I suggest say a UBC Chemistry lab book. |
D16s are a dime a dozen. Stick a turbo on it boost the hell out of it and when it blows up go to a wrecker and get a new one. Simple cheep and you can get some good power. |

if you want most power for your $ , get a turbo kit. usually, on vancovercivics or craigslist ,, you can get if for 6-8hundred used. i'd skip the header/intake/ route, all it does it adds nonsense sound which doesn't help with performance. |

Also D-series.org is your best friend if you do end up building the D |
