wow, not much tracffic in N900 thread? anyone compare this with N97 here? How do you like it? I am considering to trade this with my N97 NAM. Sure I will lose the 3G, but I use wifi only anyway and Wind is coming next month I believe? Almost bought it from Fry's yesterday when I was down there @ $527, but they sold out. |
Got my N900 2 days ago. It's awesome except the lock button/strap is on the wrong side IMO. :( The mail client is 10x better than N97 for sure and it works FAST with wifi. Much easier to config and all. When checking something on google (with internet connection), it also quickly checked and download all of my mail without me knowing it. GPS locking speed is simply no comparison to any phone. Took out of the box (brand new) and less than 30 seconds in-door when first started Map and I got a fix. I don't recall my iPhone 3G gets so fast. The downside is, Ovi map free navigation is not ready for N900.... :( It display Chinese no problem (both browser/music tag) even when it's a NAM version. But the ovi(Nokia) suite doesn't work very well with it. Therefore, if you need to sync with desktop, N900 is not a good choice. 4 desktops with 4 different wallpaper is also cool. Avi with Divx is supported right out of the box. MP4/3GP too. But Realvideo is not. Well, close enough for me. Even the Music menu/UI is better than N97. No regret! :) |
follow the maemo forums, they just got the tablet to OC to 1Ghz+. I havent tried flashing the kernel yet but probably will once PR1.2 is released. |
man, this phone is crazy. The more I play with it, the more I found out it can do. :) VNC works great. Extra Decoder support takes realvideo (rm/rmvb) files with little lag, but it does work. |
^How the telephony experience? |

also, i find it will be better if they reverse the microphone and earphone position. that will make it easier imo. Posted via RS Mobile |
Lol. I saw this at Fry's too during easter. It was like $500. Tempting. But I cannot buy a phone that has no 850 3G. :( |
^_^, I went there and it was sold out. :p Better yet, got it locally for $450 brand new. it's alright with me, I dont have data on my phone (company phone) anyway. Everywhere I go, there's wifi. Damn, this is a fully functional lnux computer. It's even better than my UX-280 that I had before. Fast, reliable. No crashing whatsoever. |

just an update after few days use. the bluetooth part needs some improvement. i can't control my music playback from my a2dp headphone that works no problem on n97. when talking on my a2dp headset, there are some strange static that wasn't on my n97. althought it does multitasking, music playback was interruptted when switched to different program if on a2dp. if regular headphne is used, then it's ok.
