Exclamation 11 arrested in Surrey after shooting incident

SURREY, B.C. – 11 people including a woman are in custody after a forcible confinement incident and shooting in Surrey Saturday afternoon.

Surrey RCMP said they were called to a complaint of unlawful confinement and a shooting at residence in the area of 176 St and 96 Avenue where they found a group of people inside the residence with one man suffering from a gun shot wound.

RCMP’s heavily armed Emergency Response Team and a dog team was used to carry out arrests. One female tried to escape and was slightly hurt during the apprehension.

” The victim is cooperating with investigators and is a male in his mid 20s. He suffered a non life threatening gun shot wound,” police said in a statement.

“Eleven persons are under arrest, aged mid 20s to mid 30s. Most are known to Police. One female did suffer injuries when she tried to escape and RCMP Police Dog Services assisted,” police said.

The area is now cordoned off by police.

” Its believed that this is not a random act as the victim and suspects are known to each other,” police added.

96th Ave is closed to traffic west of 176th street to 173A Street. This is expected to last into the evening."

shitt i live only 2 min away from this place. makes u wonder if anywhere u live is actually a "safe" place. I think this might be another drug incident for that many ppl to be arrested at once... in the morning at 7-8ish this started and i guess they waited to get a police warrant then they stormed in. Now as, i came back from van i still still cops there. better close my windows and lock my doors

Don't get involved with the wrong crowd and you don't get shot. Let the bad apples kill themselves.
