there are so many nice cars in the 90s...why people still pick volvo, I don't understand except it's a well known european company

it is not really comfortable inside and it's just too boxy

they are overbuilt and last damn long

besides, the boxy design was what the older volvos were known for

Plus, Volvo seats and interiors are known to be some of the most comfortable in all cars.

^ ur kidding?...people around me owned different volvos...740, 760, 850, S40
well the 700 series has good leg rooms, other than that I have difficulty fitting myself
comfortable at the back. Also, it's weird that the seats are so high up.

Volvo's are very underestimated for what they are, even the latest Top Gear makes reference to how awesome the T5 engine is. Also, for the record, I never found the interior of my 850 uncomfortable, or small.

wtf who are you and how do you know???

Better question, why did no one tell me about this thread?!!?!

Yeah, I just bought a 1990 740 Turbo. Lovely little thing. Turbobricks is an awesome site, and you'll soon drop your jaw in awe at some of the crazy Swedes and their mods...like, in Sweden and stuff.

240 is cool, timeless.
760/740 turned into the 960/940 and then the S90/V90. Lots of interchangeable parts. Some of the 740 with S90 front-end conversions and upgraded parts look SICK. Like this:

The 850 was the first FWD one and one of the best Volvos ever. Go for the 95+ ones. It became the S70, but STAY AWAY from the 97 and 98 models.

The new ones are more boring to me, other than the V70R/S60R.

GO BRICKS GO.

Here is a volvo meet that we organized through swedespeed just a month ago.
This was in Lynwood WA and I drove down to the GTG with my Volvo S40.

sorry there is no older models at the meet, but there were some nice S60Rs there.

LOLLL

Too bad, that meet needed more square corners. There are some pretty amazing examples of mid-90s Volvos out there. CarDomain, crappy site as it is, actually has one or two awesome ones. I really dig this yellow 850 T5:

Man those Heico Rims costs an arm and a leg. So simple but so nice! I don't got the balls to pay so much for Heico parts.

Kardboard: Better yet, what took you so long to find it!!!

Is the 940 TURBOOOO? If so, shoot me a PM!

Otherwise, in terms of handling (yeah, may be an oxymoron when talking about a volvo), would the 740/960 be better with the RWD, or the 850 with (what I assume to be) better suspension components and rigidity etc. coz it's newer?

Cool to hear about the interchangeable parts, definitely opens up a few more aftermarket routes. That front end conversion is NAAAICE.
