The 1.2L TSI with 105hp seems more than adequate,
I'd Opt for the diesel, damn I'd take this over a yaris anyday!

I saw both the GTI and regular new gen polo in europe... they are very sexy!

They would definitely go right against the yaris etc and would probably be a more desirable product... VW finishes even their econo products well... and with the introduction of this we will see the end of those god awful CITY models...

New Golf = win. If it had been out at the time I was buying I'd definitely would have considered it. Although with VW it's kind of lame how they make everything an option so after adding what you want the car is 5g more than you anticipated.

compared with other cars there aren't actually too many options

i think there was only:
leather luxury package
DSG
and.... maybe something else

when I got my mkv gti

when i got my 07 gti, options were 18" wheel/tires (summers or all-seasons), DSG, sunroof, leather, i-pod connectivity/hardware and satellite radio. some of this were grouped together in package options however.
