| "Parked other than headed in direction of traffic" Dispute?
What happened was my integra's driver side (front left) window keep falling out of the track, and yes it has fallen so many times so i know how to fix it in 10 minutes.
So i parked on the street in front of my house facing the opposite direction so i can keep the door open without worrying about vehicles going by. After i was done, i went in to put away my tools and grabbed something to drink. When i came back out i saw a ticket on my windshield. I just missed the ticket guy as the ticket says exactly issued on 2:59pm and i went back out at 3:00pm.
Can i dispute this?
By-Law 2849 Section 181B
"Stop or park other than headed in the direction of traffic"

This is a side street in a residential neighborhood, not any kind of busy street if that matters, but i guess not.

Seems to me some cities may have provisions in their bylaws for your situation, but Vancouver doesn't appear to. http://vancouver.ca/blStorage/9892.PDF for the full thing (page 17 for the specific section). You MIGHT try to dispute it based on your desire to avoid obstructing traffic, but first you might want to find out if there are any other bylaws restricting working on your car at the roadside - you may only be landing yourself in more hot water.

"Duct tape, the handyman's secret weapon"...also prevents you from getting tickets for illegal parking. Local bylaw tickets here are "park with left wheels to curb" You clould also get tickets for driving on the wrong side of the road, as you park at the curb and leave it later. That is a MV Act ticket.

if it's a bylaw ticket, you can call city hall and ask to have your one 'mulligan' ... assuming you don't have a history of tickets... they will usually cancel one bylaw ticket for you if you ask super nicely.

I believe it was Skidmark who had a much better solution to this.. It was "parked more than 30cm away from curb" if I'm not mistaken...
a full 20 feet or so, wouldn't you say?

Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you. |

either you were or you were not. It is pretty black and white. If you were, pay up, there is no excuse and the ticket will double if you go to court.
