I like this guys garage better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KV--4DTXhiw Notice when the video was posted and that he already has an LP 560-4. All of the cars you see are owned by one person. I know it's not 5000 cars, but I like his style.

What would he need a mechanic for if he rarely drives any of these cars. But in all seriousness probably quite a few since IRC he has F1 cars as well.

No some Chinese families have Citizenship in Brunei. The process is quite complicated in how the "government" selects you. :/

If you scout the internet around, you can find pictures of his garage/hanger. He's the Sultan of the country, he can build whatever he wants with it. Oh and an interesting fact, he can pilot helicopters and commercial aircrafts. During one of the APEC meetings in Vancouver many years ago, he was the one who piloted his Royal Brunei aircraft.

There was a huge post about this on supraforums, with dozens of pictures.. I'll try and find it, the consensus was that albeit an incredible collection, the cars are in quite poor condition and many have not been started in decades

wiki: The collection of vehicles was for the most part stored and serviced in five aircraft hangars, where specialist teams from the various manufacturers would maintain the collection.

my parents are from brunei, and i've been there twice.
yea there isnt anything to do... except maybe bandar.
the oil there is basically controlled by shell.

the sultan sold many of his cars in the past few years. my dad told me that he auctioned off a couple of his nsx's.

The Sultan of Brunei has not been the richest man in the world for a very long time.

He's been behind Warren Buffet, Bill Gates and Carlos Helu, and many others for a while..

As a matter of fact he's not even in the top 25 anymore.

He had to pay his Brother's debt which was in the Billions hence why he had to sell some of his cars, assets etc etc.

It's not just that, the price of oil has halved, as a result his assets diminished by a massive amount.

There were rumours years ago that he dumped his collection in the ocean after a spat with his brother?
