So my dad and i have been driving the camry hybrid for the last 2 days, and total average is 6.6L/100km, ![Smilie](/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Cornering ability as we found out today is not great and tires love to squeal, but nothing wrong with it for everyday driving, I just love the smug feeling of taking off and having the needle in the E mode ![Thumbs Up](http://dubberz.com/forum/Smileys/default/thumb.gif) I think fuel economy will only go down, as you learn to drive the car better each time, Braking is difficult and inconsistent and still haven't gotten used to it,
But overall, I'm loving this experience, and driving the camry is so much better than the prius, because its about the same price, (i like the style better) and you don't have to showoff the hybridness and look like a douche ![Thumbs Up](http://dubberz.com/forum/Smileys/default/thumb.gif) that and it's huge inside

So for someone just to say "I have done research on Hybrids and I am against them."
without anything to back yourself up just sounds like someone with small male syndrome...
But yeah in all seriousness look at all the hybrid taxi's on the road, if you're a high mileage commuter it definitely makes sense, or even if you're just someone who drives dt etc. a lot, you'll usually find yourself using pure electric to keep it going, don't expect to reach the claimed mileage, but I have an 07 corolla as well and the camry hybrid is definitely better on gas | |

but in general you shouldnt need to replace the battery, i've asked regency toyota service when i was selling there, and they said they've never had to repalce a battery

Similar to laptops, if people never disconnect the power adapter, they never know how long the battery will last by itself.
I don't know how much hybrid owners know about their cars, it is not that easy to detect the battery doesn't hold a charge anymore.

Yes it is, because it won't kick into full EV mode duh...
Hah! Overall avg'd dropped to 6.4 today
BTW i don't own a corolla, it's my grandpa's but i've put a bunch of kms on it, and definitely not as good on gas as the camry hybrid
thoroughly tested the car today, Throttle response isn't bad for a slushy car, and cornering isn't as bad as i thought before, even though it likes to squeal sometimes, no torque steer ![Thumbs Up](http://dubberz.com/forum/Smileys/default/thumb.gif) CVT is not annoying at all, only thing i dislike about the car is the braking, after my 2 days with the camry Hybrid we're seriously considering getting one when the next gen is released,
I never though I'd like driving a hybrid, especially when my car is the complete opposite, manual vs CVT, rough vs smooth, 2 seater vs camry... and so on
But yeah, i totally shunned hybrid drivers before, now i see the appeal...

DAMN DAMN, I think I'll opt for the chevy volt though, love the style and plug in, for consistent fuel economy, although the battery on that might not last that long

OP or anyone else here, have you ever tried the 2010 Ford Fusion? It looks awesome and the specs with proportion to gas is simply AMAZING. Wonder if any of you have tried driving it?

he's putting the car thru a mostly highway pace. I can do the same too in the Ford Fusion but it's just not realistic for day to day scenario.
What's important tho, is that if my commute has a lot of off-highway driving, the motor/engine independent system on the Camry will do me really good. Ford Fusion will do it too but I'm not going to make a comment until I test it. Maybe it'll wow me like the Camry did.
Rich what's Ford's warranty on this?

The Fusion does up to 76kph in electric only mode. As far as I know, there is no other mass produced full-hybrid that can go that fast on electric only. This is obviously better both for highway and for city driving. I don't find the braking sigificantly different over the non-hybrid fusions. It comes with the standard 3 year / 60,000kms bumper-to-bumper warranty, 6 year / 100,000km powertrain warranty, AND an 8 year / 160,000km hyrbid powertrain/component warranty.

that's less than 3L/100km!?!?! | Well, the engine can run on electric under ideal conditions at like 47 mph. All you need to keep on an eye on is the EV bracket.

47mph... isn't that too slow for the highway, too fast for the city?
Lol Update: let my mom drive the camry hybrid for the day and avg went up to 6.8L/100km, impressive still because she has a leadfoot...
