The Fusion is a WAY better looking car, they should have made an SHO version of that.

that's what motor trend said in their latest issue. build a fusion with this engine in it... sort of like the equivalent of a svt contour
they had in the past.

With frame of thinking you might as well just not post on RS at all.

If the car was legitimately appealing you will get praises regardless. Not everyone in this thread drives a import.

Also how as Rich says, theres not much room to move on the price, whereas acura with their awful looking but excellent driving TL with a better interior is willing to negotiate, and same with cadillac with their CTS which IMO is better looking and has a more stylish interior as well is also willing to negotiate.

Just face it, the Taurus SHO wasn't meant to compete in this market, It'll sell because it's fairly limited (not like it'd be popular if it wasn't...) and there'll be fans,

Make it a taurus STI and maybe there'll be some interest, the SHO lacks anything desirable besides the drivetrain, It has nothing to do with the brand and renaming it as a lexus won't help it, so for that reason I'm out (BAM! throw in a dragon's den reference)

$38k would be pushing it.. $48k = Fail ..

They should just sell the 5dr Mondeo Diesel here and call it a day... At least they'd have something to steal VW's clean diesel sales (Jetta + new golf + Passat)

^38k for 365hp? ur kidding right.
53k is a lil much, i think 43k would be a good price point.

it's different and like someone stated earlier, Ford is one of the few companies actually turning a profit.

is this SHO motor still a Yamaha motor like the old ones were?

This motor is Ford's new EcoBoost 3.5L twin turbo V6, direct injection, with 365+hp and tq. 6 speed automatic with select shift paddles. Automatic All-wheel-drive. It will also come in a few other cars (Edge, MKX, Flex, MKT, MKS, *maybe* the Fusion and Mustang too)

Interesting comments on the price. I wonder what objective reasons people have for thinking the price is too high.

I'm against the price of the car itself, and as with most people's opinion, I find the car ugly, and not really worth 53K

I'll give you a normal/not that hardecore car guy's prospective.

As Majin quoted...it's a FORD, until it builds back to standards of japanese/Euro cars, (EVEN if it is, the NAME/PERCEPTION has to be there.)

Ford and any american car in NA, killed itself with the looks of the cars, the build of the cars.

Granted it's a powerful engine, but the interior design is HORRIBLE, the looks is average at best.

No average person thinks of "ooh, great engine, lets pay 53k for it". I want the total package. I will always be willing to give up HP for looks, comfort.

You need all 3 quality for saloon, it can't just be a crazy engine car.

Take Top Gear - they've tested so many great engine cars with good prices, but Jeremy will never buy it because it looks like a "shoe box with wood trim"

You also need charm, Take The last gen STI had a horrible interior, but people loved the boxer character and the overall charm of the car, and people bought it (some that weren't even fanbois ), The SHO taurus is just too bland, and I can only see SHO fanbois (or fanmen shall we say) who loved the old one buying it
