For those who are going to see this, please consider a few things. It will make this a lot more enjoyable. This movie was by Nolan, he did Momento for those who remembered. It was THE movie that put him on the map. This movie was written and directed by him. It's a long 2:30 hr long movie + the previews, please please please ensure you don't go to the bathroom, you'll miss a lot if you don't watch the entire thing.
This movie is a mind fuck movie. IF you did NOT get shutter island and what the entire crazy reality of shutter island, I do not think you would appreciate this movie. It has a lot of imagination and a lot of "putting the story" together moments where you have to think. The only previous movie with mine fuck = Saw and Shutter island, this one was 7/10. Previous similar genre movie would be Matrix and inception would be 10/10 based on sci-fi...
Inception was done really well, it was a very very long movie and the first hour of the movie sets the tone of the movie and plays a crucial part of the ending also so please, if you're going to be late for 20 min, don't bother watching.
The movie: I have to say, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Ellen Page did a decent job. Ellen Page (from Juno) is considered a B to C list actresses so it was good to see her doing a movie with Leo and so is Joseph, (500 days of summer). Leonardo DiCaprio is another story, he did shutter island, revolutionary road and Body of lies and I'm glad he's choosing some good scripts to do however, his acting skills is still very linear. He's good but he hasn't really wow-ed me with the acting.

when the jap guy was wearing his snow camo gear (3rd dimension) died after he threw the bomb into the hole, you go to the limbo dimension(due to the sedatives, if you don't have sedatives you wake up when you die). When you're in limbo, you grow old and alone and that's when time is EVEN worse. Leo goes to the limbo state to locate the jap dude. Remember 5 mins = 1 hr dream World and when you're in limbo, you get to be SUPER lost and you tend to forget. The speech Leo had with him was on the helicopter and they both keep on reminding each other what they were both saying to bring him back to reality.

yea and that's kind of how Leo and his Wife were in that world they made up and grew old together right? The jap guy was "wandering" for a long time in his world and when Leo showed up, it showed him that the world was a 'dream' and they awoke in the plane. it's a lot to comprehend....
'Nolan planted each and every possibility in our minds to see what we come up with as though it's our own. It's not, Nolan put it there. That's Inception. If I'm right about this, and this was Nolan's intention all along, then from the relationship of the director and his audience, this is possibly the most brilliant movie of all time.'

The last scene Leo was caught and they took his gun + his top (the totem) which is a way for Leo to "remember" his reality. (Remember Leo, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, guy with the dice, both wouldn't allow anyone to touch it) Now, since the jap dude has it, it's questionable now. The ONLY way was for Leo to talk to him and remind him about the helicopter speech he had with the jap guy.
I would definitely recommend everyone to see this movie. It is definitely worth the money.
Inception is not mindfuck. It does, however, involve a lot of thinking.
(Unlike Shutter Island, which was mindfuck when 90% of the movie is the made-up fantasy of Leonardo, and only the last 10% was reality)
Agree to Kaolinite's comment that the movie Inception is itself, Inception. The audience is fed details throughout the movie, and yet the last scene can cause a debate that can get more heated than the HST campaign.
Spoiler!
My take on the last scene is that the job that Leonardo was assigned has finished successfully. Why I say this is because Leonardo said that the top will continue to stay in motion and spin indefinitely in a dream. The very last scene shows the top wobbling and wanted to fall over, therefore it is in reality. No other scene of the top showed that it lost momentum in a dream. It always showed that it stayed spinning once spun, and only stops when picked up by the user.

what you say is true but also, what i was thinking was how come the kids never aged? were also wearing the same clothing as his dreams, and they were doing the same thing ( outside playing in the grass ). that could show that the ending was still a dream.
what my friend noticed was that at the beginning he was wearing a wedding ring and the parts that were reality he was not wearing it but in the dreams he was..at the end of the movie he was not wearing it...so does that prove the ending was reality?

also, Leo's totem ( the top ) was originally his wifes.. and if only the person who owns the totem knows the unique characteristic of the totem will be able to use it. this made me think that this whole story was the wife's dream. since its her totem ( the top ) she can manipulate it in any way. she was right about still being in a dream and was actually going back into Inception and trying to get Leo out of it... who dreams about tops that never fall anyways? we all know they do.. a loaded die is unique because it always rolls the same number.. but a top is a top it has no uniqueness to it.
i just watched the movie. i passed out half way through........................at the beginning i was like wtf. in the middle i was sleeping. in the end i was like wtf.
the theater was wayy too fuckin hot aswell. not a good combo when the movie is over 2 hours

i agree with this one that the job finished successfully and he was back to reality. it's also the fact that just before Leonardo had to leave the next day on a flight after his wife committed suicide, but remember the fact he wanted to see the kids playing on the grass but never got chance, because they never turned around? Well, throughout the movie he always mentioned that was the LAST scene he had with his kids, with his kids not turning around, he has never been able to recall what the kids faces were like.
In the last scene of the movie, his kids face were shown, which depicts that it was in fact reality, because if it were in dreamworld, it wouldn't happen because he doesn't even remember what they look like, just stuck in the scene from the very beginning where the kids didn't turn around

i don't quite get what you're saying here... the jap dude took his totem away? don't remember that part and what were they saying in actual words? it was so hard to hear that old dude except the fact that Leonardo was saying "come back with me". Oh yeah, and the old jap dude asked whether Leonardo came back and wanted to kill him because that totem looks familiar.
6793026, you're trying to say that in your view, Leonardo is still stuck in the dream?

Imo, the movie was a lot of fun to watch. Was it really epic? I wouldn't go that far. But there was quite a bit of stuff that I missed and would definately watch a second time when it comes out on dvd.

I was at the richmond one. It was alright for a bit. Then it got wayy too hot and stuffy. Being too hot and baked at the same time dosent mix well for me. I passed right out Posted via RS Mobile
No offense to the rest of the ppl here that want to discuss some of the plot points or major events in the movie that u totally missed
but u guys must have the attention span of a molested 10 year old kid or just complete dumbasses not to get this movie on first viewing
As harsh as you sounded, I actually agree. Discussions about more elaborate themes and complex points in the movie is fine and all.
But seriously, no, it does NOT take a "complete genius" to figure this movie out, at least for the most part. Especially regarding just the major plot points/events.
