The Expendables is an upcoming 2010ensembleaction film directed and written by Sylvester Stallone. Filming began on March 28, 2009 in Brazil, New Orleans and Los Angeles and is expected to be released on August 22, 2010. "The Expendables has a seventy million-dollar budget," says Stallone's co-star Dolph Lundgren,[1] "and it's an old-school, kick-ass action movie where people are fighting with knives and shooting at each other." The film pays tribute to the blockbuster action films during the 1980s and early '90s, as the film includes action veterans from those decades (such as Stallone himself, Dolph Lundgren, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis).
Cast
Sylvester Stallone as Barney Ross aka The Schizo, a veteran Expendable and leader of the team.
Dolph Lundgren as Gunnar Jensen, a Swedish expert at sniping, he later gets fired and kicked out from the expendables and is hired by Monroe to kill the Expendables. Jensen also hates Bao Thao and fights with him frequently.
Terry Crews as Hale Caesar, Bao's best friend, also a weapons specialist.
Eric Roberts as Monroe, a corrupt C.I.A. agent who is preventing the Expendables from killing General Garza.
Mickey Rourke as Tool, a former Expendable, now an arms dealer and tattoo parlor artist/owner who helps the Expendables.
Gary Daniels as The Brit, General Garza's main henchman and a former Expendable who wants to go to war and get revenge against the team for kicking him out.
old news but i didnt know, Jean Claude Van Damme turned down an offer to be in the movie:
Quote:
You can’t really have a group of 80s action heroes without the muscles from Brussels turning up but unfortunately Jean Claude Van Damme has thrown a no to Stallone in turning up for the film, which is a real shame, it’d be just as good to his face added to the mix with all the rest of the fist throwers in the film – but that ain’t going to happen.
Best bud of Van Damme, Sheldon Lettich (director of 80s greatness ‘Double Impact’) recently gave a bit of info on the matter explaining that...
"Apparently, Sly was pissed too. Sly made the offer personally. They spoke on the phone for a half hour or so. JC apparently gave Sly the explanation about following a new and different career path for himself now."
Sylvester Stallone got so into a fight scene with Steve Austin while shooting 'The Expendibles' last year that he broke his neck, resulting in "a very serious operation afterwards."
Speaking to FHM magazine, the 'Rocky' icon revealed how intense the shoot went: "Man, it was seven guys, kicking each other's ass, one guy tougher than the next. No joke, our stunt guys were begging for mercy. Actually, my fight with Stone Cold Steve Austin was so vicious that I ended up getting a hairline fracture in my neck. I'm not joking."
He added: "I haven't told anyone this, but I had to have a very serious operation after wards. I now have a metal plate in my neck."
The movie, which Sly scripted and directed, revolves around a group of old-fogey mercenaries on a mission to topple a foreign dictator. It features some of the biggest names in action, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dolph Lundgren, Bruce Willil, Mickey Rourke and Jet Li. The young pup in the flick is Jason Statham, 26 years Stallone's junior.
It also stars Brittany Murphy, who died in December.
Stallone told the magazine that his cast maintained high intensity throughout the making of the film, in theaters this August.
"Man, those guys were up for it. They got out of bed at 5.30am just to shoot a small five-minute scene," he said.

7seven: I really can't stand all these idiots who hit the gym now just because they watched 300 and want to be like a spartan. Case in point, this skinny guy comes into the gym the other day, must have only weighed ~ 140lbs, loads on 2 plates on the bench rack, mutters to himself, for sparta, unracks the barbell and proceeds to drop it directly on his chest.
