Street racing accident in Surrey???

Just saw it on the 11 o'clock news.

Guy in a black convertable Vette hit a bus bench where there was a guy waiting for the bus.
Last heard, the victim might lose the use of his legs.

WTF man!!!!

Was the corvette okay?

Limbs are repairable, but this guys corvette might lose resale value if reported to ICBC!

Hope his bumper is okay.

Guys bum per was ok. Tiny scratch that can be buffed out.
But I think he damaged his transfer case when he stuck it in "R"ace mode.

SURREY (NEWS1130) - Surrey Mounties are on the scene of a bad accident that may have been caused by a street race.

Witnesses say a Corvette made a right turn onto 128th street at 72nd where it sideswiped a car and veered right into a bus stop where an elderly man was sitting. RCMP say the man's injuries are serious. No word on any arrests. Keep it here to News1130 for the very latest.

I missed seeing it by about 5 minutes while at school (Kwantlen at the corner). Was talking to one of the witnesses, he said it didn't look like a street race, just an asshole in a 'Vette trying to look cool and failing with terrible consquences.

I hope they rip the driver a new asshole.

So many fucking DP's driving around Surrey in high HP cars with no skills but lots of construction money to show for it. The only place they know where to flex their awesomeness is very public places.

I hope the old man survives. This could have been MUCH worse. That area is where Kwantlen and Princess Margaret Secondary is. There could have been many many students at those bus stops if timed right.

heard this on the radio just now... the driver of the wrecked corvette is 25 years old. the other vehicle that didn't stop was allegedly another corvette, possibly yellow in color.

Latest update:

Quote:
An elderly man is in hospital after a Corvette slammed into him in Surrey. Witnesses say there may have been a street race.

The victim was waiting at a bus stop at 72 Avenue and 128 Street and even this morning, the bench is still flipped over backwards, the signs of the bus stop have been sheared off and are lying across the sidewalk.
Cpl. Dave Jones with Surrey RCMP says around 6:00 p.m. a black Corvette came careening off 72nd, clipping another car, "The Corvette subsequently lost control, hit an individual sitting at the bus stop. He sustained severe injuries to his legs and it's not known at this time, whether or not he's going to make it."
Witnesses say the Corvette was travelling alongside a yellow sports car which took off. The driver of the Corvette was arrested. He's a 25-year-old man from Surrey and is being questioned.
At last report, the 83-year-old victim was in critical condition, heading into surgery.

the latest news1130 update says police are being very delicate about the word 'racing'...

makes no sense to me personally for someone racing to try and take a right turn all of a sudden, (according to the news)... could have been as simple as a douche bag just driving fast and being stupid, dont jump to conclusions.

and to they guy who made the comment about "dp's" driving around like idiots... i see plenty of white guys and asian guys driving just as stupidly.
obviously your butt hurt, making that construction money comment shows a bit of jealousy.
im not condoning anyones actions on the road, but get a grip, dont single a certain group of people out, we all do it.

The police are usually pretty conservative with the "street racing" moniker... it's the media that is all over the place.

He said in Surrey, which is absolutely true. It's probably the asians in Richmond, but in Surrey, it's the DP's....
