i went into apple to get hte 16gig 3gs as a hardware upgrade (my plan was up for renewal). the price i was supposed to pay was $299! the rogers rep said that because i've previously received a hardware upgrade 3 yrs ago, i'd have to pay $299. we talked to a lot of different reps and in the end, they finally gave it to me for $199.

most of the time, i think those reps are just making sht up to waste your time.

oh - on a separate occasion, i also talked to an actual rogers rep. she said that the upgrade price depends on how long you've been with rogers etc. there were tiers from 1-5?

ya, the tier levels depends how much you spend with them.

if you only pay like $30 a month, you a low level tier customer. if you pay 100/month, maybe be considered a high level tier customer.

Please note that the tier levels are based off of how much you have spent with the company. So even though you spend only 30 a month, with enough time, you'll be a high tier.

I am currently at tier 3 and I only spend about 25 a month.

if you have less than 6months on your contract and want to renew for 3yrs, telus will give you the 3yr pricing of any phone you want no matter how much you spend a month. come to telus, they have a way better retention department, hell, even their regular frontline reps are trained on saving clients. i should know cause i work for telus but have rogers(cant wait till this contract is over).

ps. wait for hspa from telus to come out in a couple months then port over.

These plans are fairly easy to come by with retentions

I have: 6GB, unlimited eve and weekends after 6, 200 anytime minutes, voicemail, 2500text, caller ID, $59

is that visual voicemail that works with iphone or is it regular voicemail? cause i've got the same plan you described with visual voicemail and who-called option and my bill is $90 every month

Visual Voicemail works with iphone. There's generally a small charge for that. I never use my voicemail so doesn't matter to me.

i spend about $35 after fees and taxes/month. i got the 3g 16 gb last year. i called just before my HUP was effective, they quoted me $399 or some shit. i tried several more times asking if after i was eligible they would give it to me for less. each time $399.

2 days after im eligable for a HUP, i call again, this time im offered the 32 gb 3gs for $299. no fuss no muss no haggleing! i asked him again if he was sure, he said yup no mistake "i can do that for you" he tells me to walk into any store with stock and grab one as they had no online stock.

went to the store, they said NO! i had to get them to call rogers, they also say NO!

so i tell them to check the notes on my account. nothing is noted. gave my rep's name, nothint. finally i get them to listen to their recordings of the conversation that rogers keeps for "training purposes" they call it an "interaction #" MAKE A NOTE OF THIS ANY TIME YOU DEAL WITH A CUSTOMER SERVICE REP.

after a lenghty time on hold, she comes back and says ok pay whatever the store wants now and we'll credit your account.

after that my day was full of win.

on a completely different note, anyone with a 3GS thats jailbroken make sure you register your ECID with Cydia. your future of unlocking is at stake if you don't.

the current 3.1 firmware cannot be unlocked, but can be jailbroken. this forum will show you how to stay at 3.1 or upgrade to 3.1 safely.

when 3.1 or whatever comes out, 3.1 will most likely be not allowed to be used by apple and will not be singned. = no restore to 3.1 (just like 3.0 or 3.0.1 both of which can be JBed and unlocked.)

if you have Cydia on your phone, click "Make my life easier" and submit your ECID to Cydia. this will help you stay at an unlockable firmware.

BTW i am Madman604x over there
