I'm calling B.S. on this story. Although I believe there are people in the US stupid enough to not know their obscure car is worth more than a $4500 credit just through private sale... I am fairly confident anyone who owns a 1997 Aston Martin DB7 has at least enough going on upstairs to know that nor require a $4500 credit on a new efficient car.

I can see the 850i, it probably wouldn't have been in such great condition, but come on a DB7!?!?! and FUCK! a bentley continental R? That thing is fucken sexy
Anyways, I won't believe all of these until I see them crushed into a heap of metal
LOL now i know why I can't find Z31 parts anywhere!

I find those numbers hard to believe... only a handful of shitty cars like Cavaliers, yet hundreds of BMW's and Mercedes?
What were the criteria? Not being in the US, I wasn't paying close attention..

Sure the cars may have been worth more than $4500... but in this economy, they probably couldn't find a buyer.

I think those cars were probably wrecked to begin with. Probably it wasn't even worth the money to restore or fix the car. So they trade it in to the Cash for Clunkers program. I wouldn't see this as a tragedy.

Same with the Continental R, regular Continentals from '97 go for $40k with high mileage let alone the "R" version that is $60k+... IMO this story is total BS

There was a body kit to make a MR2 look like a Ferrari 355 (i think).
I bet if that thing gets traded in, the people will think it is a REAL Ferrari 355.
Probably the same goes for a lot of those "rare" cars.
