Who does good phone reviews?

I am trying to decide between sticking with WinMo after nearly 10 years, and going with an HTC Touch HD or Samsung Omnia II. Or maybe switching to Android and going with a Hero. I have tried out the Hero, and like some things about it, and hated others.

Whenever I search for reviews, the new "problem of today's internet" comes up, in that only the "big blogs" like Engadget and stuff like that show up, with their shitty reviews. Not only that, they only review phones seemingly when they "feel like it" or when they score a sample from the manufacturers.

So as phone enthusiasts, I am hoping someone here can direct me to a site that regularly reviews phones, and does a good job of it. If they do this, they should be able to put reviews into context for me, which makes reviews infinitely more useful.

Thanks!

Not sure if you consider these "big blogs", but these are the sites I usually frequent when researching a phone. However, like everything on the internet, I take it with a grain of salt, and play with the phone first.

http://www.gsmarena.com/
http://www.mobileburn.com/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ (great site for finding common complaints/mod possibilities)
http://www.howardforums.com/ (again...great for reading common complaints)

And here is a site for comparing the specs of different phones side-by-side:
http://www.phonegg.com/

And, of course, youtube has a lot of "independent" reviews, which gives a visual of speed and overall usability.

PS: I have no regrets switching from my TyTn2 to Dream..but you have to keep in mind that if you want the "freedom" of WM, you'll need to gain root access.

The Hero has so many minor annoyances, such as having a capacitative screen, shitty video recording AND playback, but some cool features. I really need to try out the new WinMo phones, but that's hard to do when the stupid stores don't even have demo units out most of the time.

I just found out about gsmarena, they do a pretty decent job of basic reviews.

Try youtube as well. As goofy as that sounds, theyre probably unbiased as theyre just average joes reviewing them. Also they're video reviews so you might get to see the phone in action as well.

I always hit gsmarena and howardforums, or used to anyway.. until I met the Bold

mobile-review.com

phonearena.com also has video reviews, and they also put them up on youtube as well

phonehk.com also has reviews, although i dont think they're as in-depth as the others

What phone are you currently using?

If you're currently using a HTC WM phone, it's pretty easy to flash a newer version of WM on to it to get an idea of WMs current state.

I picked up a Samsung Omnia II and it is pretty freakin awesome. Being able to just copy over Divx files and have them work is pretty damn nice, I gotta say

Curse you and your Hong-Kongian phone frequencies! I wish we could use your phones on 3G here.
