random question but wat are good clubs to hit up in whistler

I fell in love with snowboarding half way through the season before last. went 15 times from mid february to the end of march. last year i stopped counting at 30 times. I used to hate winter and get all depressed, this solved that problem.

I bought a whole new setup last season.

capp3l outerwear
ride bindings
ride boots
lib-tech mc kink board
oakley crowbar london police collaboration goggles/glasses/hoodie package
pow gloves
socks, base layer, hat, board bag, lock, tools, etc...

spent about $2500

this year I bought smith i/o googgles and going to pick up a helmet and new gloves. I'd also love new bindings(I cheaped out) and some thirty-two ultralights...

it was seymour, on a very hot day. t-shirt weather. it was all soft and awesome underneath.


*edit* under those clouds is vancouver. I had a pic of a different day, same thing, but skyscrapers were poking up here and there. can't find the pic though....

anyone try lib-tech boards... the banana tech intrigues me

i've got a '09 banana. It's my first board and I learned on it.. super fun and fast, good on icy days too.

anything from lib ending in btx has banana tech, mine has it, I love it :)

do to the amount of snow received, combined with snow making efforts, Sun Peaks is moving their opening day from Nov 21st up to the 14th :)

Heads up to everyone, there's some store called boardwalk or something that is having a sale this weekend i think? anyways, I heard it on the radio and they said they are the #1 ski and snowboarding store in Vancouver.. SOUNDS INTERESTING...

What im using:
- Burton snowboarding pants.. GOOD FOR NO WET ASS
- Burton bindings
- Burton boots.. the kind with no strings or whatever... u just pull 2 strings on each boot and it tightens... but I must admit, they arn't the greatest because when it gets iced up it may seem like they are about to break
-Division23 board.. (yea im cheap)
-Northface gloves ... these are the fucking best, they keep your hands so warm.. plus they are waterproof.. and they have a goggle wiper on the index finger.. and a little pocket for a card or key or something.
-Bolle goggles.... got as a gift...the only thing i like about it is the metallic reflection.. other than that...it gets fogged up easily..

Oh yea, since I am kinda a noob boarder I seem to have troubles turning on blue/black runs... I can turn (back facing mountain ) side.. but when i go from back facing to front facing (the mountain) I either abruptly slow down a lot or I catch lots of snow on my board and fall onto my back.... any help??

Does anyone know when the comor sale is? I want to get last year Burton Custom X and some new bindings as well. cracked my board last year and its coming apart.
Anybody else got the $259 pass for cypress? People on craigslist have WTB ads up for those for about $450+. Shoulda bought a bunch of them.

The store's called " The Boardroom" and it's a really decent store in vancouver. They have some of the BEST selection of NON burton products in the city.

As for your skills? Just an educated guess that you are afraid to gain speed when turning from heel to toe edge when on a steeper run. It's completely understandable and can be avoided.

If you are on a steeper run go at a pace you feel comfortable with, then learn to use your knees as shock absorbers for those runs that are steeper and bumpier. When you use your knees you will find that you can push into the toe edge more so and "skid" the board instead of trying to carve into it. Skidding the board will slow you down so that you can control your speed more and gauge yourself into the next turn.

While it's easier to explain it's hard to practice without snow.

I think come winter time/snow sliding season, I will try my best to assist those needing basic skills when it comes to having fun without the frustration.

^haha, that sounds really accurate... since I don't wear my glasses when I board I am almost half blind since I just see blurry objects that I assume are certain objects...Which is why im really cautious because I cant really see the bumps or patches of snow on the ground since all i see is blurry white... But I will try your advice.. ive had other friends tell me that as well, but thanks for the advice Vangruver!

I'll be buying a helmet this season for the first time. Question for the helmet users:

Is it better to have a beanie concurrently with a helmet ? Aren't helmets designed to be worn without a beanie ? Please advise.

I wear a toque under my helmet when I need the extra warmth but I have a gyro one (I think) and I don't need it all that often, more so when it's windy.

Of the three major pieces of equipment (board, boots, bindings), what you don't wanna skimp on is boots. If your feet aren't happy, you won't be happy. Try on as many as possible to find the perfect fit (while making sure the boot is durable/has the tech you want).



on that note... I need new boots.

Do most of you guys ride with helmets or just toques?

helmet in the park and the back country, beanie everywhere else

agreed, but remember when you try on boots, try them on when your feet are at it`s hottest

that way you know they are as swollen as they could be, to ensure that they will fit the best.

any advice on a wide set of boots ? i have a feeling my K2 boots from sportchek aren't the best for my wide foot.

Tuque when I'm just cruising down the slopes. If I'm planning on tree runs, I have my helmet on.

I still need to swap my new bindings onto my board. Looking forward to seeing how they are, compared to my old ones.

I've got a y2play pass this year, so you'll likely see me up at Grouse multiple evenings after I'm off work, and definitely on weekends.

Next year I'll invest in new boots/board to go with the bindings. Going to be interesting, testing out the toe-straps this year, as I'm very used to strapping over my boot. At least my bindings give me the option of either/or.
