Depends on location.
Most places in BC, the tap water is as clean or cleaner than bottled water, thus boiling or filtering is superfluous

Steam distilled is the best but there is nothing wrong with BC tap water.

Reverse osmosis FTW!

From what I understand:
boil water = kills bacteria, but leaves impurities in the water (trace amount of whatever)
filter water = remove impurities. Not sure if bacteria or viruses can get filtered out

Best is to boil your water and then drain it through the filter if you are really health conscious.

Just start bottling some of White Rocks tap water. That is the cleanest water, and that I was told from the person in the health unit that looks into all these water tests.

a brita won't do anything for cleaning... maybe for taste.

I use one of these when I go hiking.

Boiling still gets rid of some of the small nasty stuff a filter can't though.

I boil tap water. My friend drinks water from the filter thing straight from the tap.

Neither of us has ever gotten sick from water.

I use Brita filtered water for cooking, and filtered+boiled water for drinking. Overkill

Some of you guys have water drinking habits that sound more like borderline obsessive compulsive disorder.

BC water is clean, but you never know what's in the pipe.

I only use brita -> UV water filter system (when I am in Asia) -> boil
