I have fun with my current gf, but things are just kinda hanging in the balance right now. Don't know if I wanna jump into something completely new right away.

I'll probably just let things be, and whatever happens happens..

Life's too short. May as well have some fun.

Guys, the girl is not that kind of girl. She looks very wholesome and decent. Not some ho.

Some dick kicked over a bum's cup of change when my bf and I were walking on Granville street one day, and the bum was an elderly man too. The guy didn't stop to help pick up the change, he only looked over his shoulder and kept walking. We were walking the opposite way from the guy that kicked over the change and saw everything, and I felt really bad, so I told my bf I wanted to get the bum something to eat. So we got him a panini from Cafe Crepe and when we gave it to him, he was super happy and gave us the biggest toothless smile. It was the cutest thing. It makes my heart all warm and fuzzy thinking about it :)

Gerbs 04-18-2012 02:34 PM

^ was it at japadog? Theres always a bum who leaves his cup filled with coins and he purposely leaves it out further than usual so people can kick it and give him change. i was waiting for the bus and it got kicked over 4 times in like 15 minutes.

Two days, I came out of Veras burger shack, a homeless man with a sign that read "Need money for food, anything helps." approached me while I was getting into my car, he asked me for some changed, I had a free burger from Vera's cause I had one of those birthday email coupon thingies and so I offered it to him. He denied my burger and told me his hands were dirty and wanted money to eat inside a restaurant.

It pissed me off. Begger's can't be choosers.

Ronin 04-18-2012 09:32 PM

You had a guy refuse a Vera's burger!? Damn, those things are usually enormous...would've been a great meal for a homeless person. Probably means he hasn't been homeless long or he's BSing you.

Sometimes when the Burger King on Granville has 2 for $3 Whopper Jrs, I grab like 6, one for me and then just hand them out to homeless dudes downtown. Never had any of them tell me to give them money instead. One guy was especially ecstatic that I had another for his dog.

their focus is to get MONEY.

PJ 04-18-2012 09:36 PM

I've actually had the former happen to me before as well..

I once offered a homeless person a hot dog from a street vendor downtown, he replied "Can I have the $7 instead?"

Ronin 04-18-2012 09:41 PM

I don't like giving money, honestly. I feel like I'm enabling them but giving food is no big deal. Being hungry sucks.

I don't ask if they want something or whatever. I just go into wherever, grab some food and tell them "Hey, I got an extra burger in here...would you like one?" or something. Otherwise, I'd just tell them I don't have cash but I'm going to buy some stuff anyways...can I grab you a coffee and donut?

thegentleman 04-18-2012 09:41 PM

A couple of hours later when I got home, I ate the burger cold and it was still delicious. Homeless guy missed out. Probably needed money to get his daily fix.

Makes me not want to give money out to them anymore. I just remembered, I gave some guy like 40 cents at the mcdonalds on main and terminal..

Not really racist! 04-18-2012 09:52 PM

Are you sure he was a bum and not a hipster with raggedy clothes?

Santofu 04-18-2012 10:18 PM

I know that feeling bro,

I was nice to treat this homeless person a hot chocolate at 7am... He wanted hot chocolate instead of coffee, then he kept following me demanding me to give him $20...
I didn't have cash on me and he was like CAN WE GO TO THE BANK? I was like no, it's closed. He was like BITCH, use the fucking machine... I was like fuck off... :seriously:

Mr.Money 04-19-2012 12:13 AM

at the waterfront station there's always this homeless blonde chick in old trend lock's sitting by the pay meter's & i seen this amazing looking brunette lady about 27 come along and give her a container of food....she seemed pretty grateful for it....to think of it...i think the brunette lady was a restaurant owner and just went for a walk to give it to her,who knows how many time's she done this.

This case might be slightly different. If you're giving someone food that you already have and they refuse it, it's pretty clear they just want money. However, as you described it here, I can see why someone homeless would want $7 instead of a hot dog, because they can stretch that $7 into four meals instead of one hot dog.

Not saying this was the intention of this particular guy, but just saying it's possible.

I can understand where your coming from. But I've had the situation of being told to "fuck off" when I try to give a homeless person food instead of money. Leads me to the point where if you don't look like your in desperate need, I just shrug you off.

We bought like 3 huge pizzas from a dt pizza parlor for pretty cheap. Couldn't finish it do we have most of it to the homeless man with the dog at waterfront. He was so happy to receive it. Those are the non-prick homeless people...

I also had another time where we went to pacific center and it was around closing. The sushi place was giving out stuff for really cheap so we decided to buy it all and hand it to homeless around downtown. You would not imagine the fucking annoying responses that were given to us. Stuff like "I don't eat sushi give me money" to "fuck off I want money not food"... We finally found one guy who liked sushi so we have him almost all of it lol
