Man, I had a "god bless" moment last night.
Was at a McD's in some buttfuck nowhere town in Washington State. It was kind of busy at first, but the place became deserted in less than an hour. Only my car and a beat up van were left in the parking lot. It was cold and windy - really cold. Anyway, I noticed the van had its hood up. Being curious, I walk over to see what was up. The driver was standing there motionless with his hands in his pockets staring at the engine bay. When he saw me coming he pleaded for me to help him jump start his van. I told him no problem. Dude looked like some mormon or a quaker. I drive around to get closer to the side where the battery is. That's when I saw the wife.................. with a new born baby. The interior of the van was a mess - side door was open. Looked like a freaking manger from a nativity scene. After I finished and was about to leave the parking lot, I turn on the car's radio only to hear Boney M's, "Zion's Daughter."
They say god works in mysterious ways............. I'm thinking of attending mass tonight.
I went up to a cute chick and asked her if she'd let me take a photo of her for $30 she slapped me, she said to me that "I AIN'T A WHORE!"
But other than that I have seen every car on display in DTP just by cruising about in Richmond, thank you very much for collecting them together and get someone to sing a cover for "fuck you".
OH FUCK YOU OH OH OOOOH~

Didn't need to.........saw a bright star up in the sky and the glow on baby's face..... need I say more?
I could have been the third wise man on the scene.........Frankenstein and Mur0c I did not have, but a starter cable and a healthy battery was all they needed.
Overheard my dad talking to someone on the phone a few nights ago...
What I made out was that there's a family (friend of a friend of a friend type), where the dad recently had some sort of sudden bad illness and is unable to move, let alone provide; So the mom is working multiple shifts at minimum wage to feed 3 kids and take care of the bedridden dad, etc.
Dad was saying how he'd like to give the family some money anonymously...
I had some money set aside as my cousins and I were going to hit up the casino tonight; now I'm here on RS and not at Starlight...but I'm sure the money went to a much better use.
I'm really in no position to preach, but please keep in mind that there are families out there in some pretty shitty situations.
He doesn’t want a trip to Disneyland, an iPad, or even another one of his beloved video games. For his 9th birthday, on Feb. 11, all Bubby Everson wants is mail, ideally cards with stickers enclosed. “He loves mail,” mom Brandi McNerney-Everson tells Q13 Fox News. “Even if it’s junk mail.”
Bubby’s doting parents are happy to accommodate, and hopeto rally others to send in mail too, because they’re not sure how many birthdays their son has left. The Graham, Washington boy is terminally ill with Cytomegalovirus (CMV), a disease he contracted via virus at birth that in rare instances, like his, can be fatal.

So the parents have set up a post office box – Attention: Bubby Everson: P.O. Box 1142, Graham, WA 98338 – for their son in the hopes that generous strangers will send mail, cards and stickers to lift their little one’s spirits on his big day.

And since the couple shared their goal on local TV, dad Thomas Everson tells Yahoo Parenting that the notes have been pouring in. “We’ve received a lot of support for this birthday wish and it’s been absolutely amazing,” he says. “I’m completely blown away. I feel truly blessed that random strangers from all over the world are wiling to take time to send him a card to express their willingness to help.”
The couple plans on surprising Bubby with a treasure hunt through their home and neighborhood during his birthday party Feb. 7. They’ll fill treasure chests along the way with all of the letters he receives. “Bubby has no idea,” says Thomas. “No clue.”
Mom and dad have had to scramble, though, to keep their operation covert. “We purchased a few small treasure boxes from a crafts store but now we don’t think it’s going to be enough,” says Bubby’s dad. “We’re going to have to keep the hunt going well after his birthday to be able to give him all of the cards he receives.” And the stickers? “He’s going to be getting so many stickers our house will be covered.”
The celebration will certainly cheer up what’s been a long and difficult struggle to keep Bubby healthy. “Knowing that we could lose him at any time, that’s hard,” says mom Brandi. But she insists that her son is one tough cookie. “I don’t think he’d be here if he wasn’t a fighter,” she adds. “He’s amazing.”
My roommate went out today and bought a postcard and some stickers for the kid and I will be mailing it out tomorrow.

Found an iPhone 6, and a wallet full of cards and money (one of those flip out wallet phone combos) on point grey road at the end of a goddamn 3 hour walk with my dog. Walked 10 blocks back the other way to deliver it to the guys front door. He was stoked, I was stoked. Not a big deal, but that walk was a LONG one.
I probably should have sold the phone on CL to an RS member, but elected to take a different route.

I was driving along Greystone Ave. in North Burnaby yesterday, when I see this elderly Chinese woman curled up on side of road. There were two other people there trying to help her out, but seemed to be struggling with her. I immediately stopped in the adjacent parking lot (IGA) and ran out to help. This lady was on her way to IGA to buy some Chinese newspaper. According to the two asian ladies trying to help her, a woman with two kids found her on the ground further up the road previously, but had to go home. She had fallen and was suffering from what seemed like heat stroke. She refused help and didn't want anyone to call police or ambulance. She was afraid of getting beaten up by family members for getting police or anyone else involved. Woman kept trying to get up and leave, but couldn't stand up straight. My son sat her down on a ledge and kept her from falling over. Other people came by, but none of them knew Cantonese. One lady knew Cantonese, but was very ill and didn't want to infect her. She ended up being very helpfull.
I was very proud of the way my son looked after the old woman. I just stayed back and watched him look after the old woman like she was his grandmother. We stayed until the RCMP and paramedics arrived. I hope the family members don't get too upset with her. We did let the RCMP officer know that there were signs of elderly abuse. It's always hard to witness stuff like this.
Addendum........ if any of you live with an elderly person, keep an eye on them and make sure they have ID with them at all times. The elderly tend to wander off on their own. The older they get, the more they revert to being like a child.

For the past 4-6 weeks I have periodically seen a blind man walking in the afternoon, with his white cane, usually westbound on E.22nd Ave. in Vancouver.
About two weeks ago, I'm on my way home going south on Rupert (uphill) and I see the man. This time he was crossing west at the crosswalk on E.15th. I was about the 6th-8th car back from the crosswalk and I couldn't believe what I witnessed. All the motorist in front of me were driving AROUND him as he slowly crossed the road. When I got to the intersection, he was mosty off to the side but still not completely on the sidewalk. I pulled over, got out of my car, and approached him. He was going towards the roadway again and not to the sidewalk. Long story short, I guided him to the sidewalk, had a quick conversation with him, wished him a good day and off I went.
All those people that drove around him while he was still on the road.......unbelieveable I tell you.

I went shopping at the No Frills on Hastings near Clarke Drive this morning. I shop there often now as it is my weekly go to for grocery shopping. Looks like it is the VFD's favourite, as well. See them there all the time. Anyway, there's this scruffy looking guy who looks like a homeless bum in the parking lot cleaning up. Not sure if he's full time or not, but he's always working hard. Today, I decided to give him a fin. As I handed it to him, I told him that he's a hard worker and to keep it up. It put a big smile on his face. I will phone the owner/manager at No Frills later today to thank them for giving back to the community. It's good to see people get a second chance.

Went to TBC Karting. I'm pretty competitive so I get into it pretty deeply despite my slow times. Spotted an iPhone on the track, so came to a stop on a hot lap and picked it up and dropped it off at the flag dude. Wasn't even broken. Westophers story just reminded me of it. Ha. Another person on the track that day bent the shit out of their iPhone 6. Oops, should have dropped it on the track lol.
Friend of mine posted a couple on her FB this weekend:

Today I witnessed a selfless act of kindness towards another person who was down on life luck at this moment in time.
My friend and I were having a conversation in a parking lot and a man named Jeff wandered over and asked for a shirt or jacket as he was homeless and freezing cold. We had none that we knew of. My friend searches the trunk of the car, finds a jacket and takes it out and gives it to the guy.
The look on the mans face was one of amazement and gratitude. My friend felt good for helping someone in need and I teared up at the entire thing.
It was so touching to witness heart emoticon

So I witnessed another selfless act today.
My stepdad helped a young man with a flat tire outside his house today. The man said he would have been stuck for hours messing around with his tire. Warner thought nothing of it and carried on in his day.
Well. The young man came back bearing a gift card for Warners help. Which made Warner tear up and a hug ensued.
Such a nice thing to do for another person. On both parties.

Found out he was there with his social worker and she was next door and kinda pissed me off but at least I looked good for my first date.

Not so much a random act of kindness but it restored some faith in humanity right after some asshat killed some of that faith off. Spoilered cause it's still a bit of a sad story.
Spoiler!
This happened a few weeks back, but I was grabbing some late night Wendy's and as I was leaving I see a smallish lump in the middle of the lot. I figured it was a raccoon but as I was driving away I realized it was a cat. I turned around and drove back as this white sedan decides to not drive around it but just ignore it completely, somehow none of the tires hit it but still, kind of a dick move. I walked up to the poor thing and it was definitely dead, from the looks of things it should've died nearly instantly so at least it didn't suffer. As I'm trying to sort out what to do with this poor thing since the SPCA is closed and there isn't really any place to bury it nearby a nice older lady comes up with some gloves and a garbage bag she got from the people at Arbies (props to them) and a random girl who was eating at Wendy's (who apparently saw the cat get hit, poor girl) offers to help get the poor cat out of the road. I managed to scoop it up with my little recovery shovel and a Gatorade bottle and get it in the bag the girl held open while she tried not to freak out too much. None of us had any clue what to do for the poor thing (no collar/tags) so we put it in the dumpster. I still feel bad for having to do that but I couldn't think of anything better and at least it wasn't just sitting in the lot getting run over and mangled I'm glad those women decided to help out so I didn't feel like a complete nutcase for feeling bad for a random cat.

I was about 10 feet behind someone and saw some small papers fall to the ground. At first I thought he was littering (but I wasn't 100% sure they came from him), but noticed the papers were uniform in size and brown... So I picked up 4-5 100 dollar bills and caught up to the guy. I wasn't sure how to ask if it was his so I asked "are you carrying a lot of cash"? He looked surprised, but based on his reaction of immediately reaching into his loose pant pockets, I guess I returned it to the right person.
Could've been a weird question if I was dressed like a bum, or if it was late at night on a sketchy street... But I was dressed for work and it was 2pm at UBC.
I'll admit that for a moment, I thought about keeping the cash since nobody else saw what happened. But man it feels good doing the right thing.

Not so much a random act of kindness, just a story to make you smile.
I was heading home from the dog park with my pup. We passed by the cutest kids selling lemonade on the corner old school style. Cardboard sign, adorable backward letters and a big jug of lemonade. They were asking $0.50 a cup, I handed them a $5 bill and told them to keep up the good work. As I'm walking back to my truck I hear "MOM! THIS NICE MAN GAVE US A 5 DOLLAR BILL!!!"
That made my day, I haven't seen kids selling lemonade in the neighbourhood for at least 10+ years now.
If you're in the area or passing through, they are on 5th and Slocan in East Vancouver.

This past year has been pretty rough for me, and I haven't been in the best place mentally. So to cheer myself up, I adopted a kitten a few months ago. (I'm a huge animal lover... apparently borderline crazy cat guy.) And to get to the point, I fucking love this cat. She sleeps in my bed every night, follows me around the house all the time, cuddles with me when I'm not feeling too great, and gets super excited whenever I get home from work. Admittedly, I always look forward to seeing her when I get home.
A couple nights ago, I woke up in the middle of the night to get some water, and noticed she wasn't there. I looked around the house, but I already knew something was wrong. (Usually as soon as she hears me walking, she'll start following me around.) So I checked the doors and windows, and noticed one of the mosquito screens on one of our windows was pushed out, and that's where she must've jumped out. (It was about 2am at this time.) I went outside with a bag of treats (she usually comes running at the sound of me shaking the bag) to go look for her. I walked around for 2 hours and couldn't find or hear her (she has a bell around her neck), so I went home and crashed for a few hours, and in the morning I went out to look for her again with no luck. The day went by, night came, looked again, nothing. I started to lose hope. (She's only about 5 months old, so she's not ready to be an outdoor cat just yet.)
Then last night at about 10pm, I get a call from a lady who asked if I lost a cat. (I have a name tag on her collar with my phone number on it). I was so fucking excited and relieved that my eyes welled up a bit. She said that they found her in their yard, and that she's really freaked out and shivering. I went to pick her up immediately (she was about 10 blocks away from my house), and repeatedly thanked her and her husband. I offered them some sort of reward, and they declined. I saw that they have a dog, and I told them that I own a doggy daycare and they can have as many free stays as they want, and they declined again. I told them that it'd be my pleasure to give them some sort of reward, and the husband finally says, "well, I just finished building that planter box. We could use a new plant in there."
So today I went over to Canadian Tire and picked up a plant, and wrote them a thank you card with a $100 bill tucked inside.
To any pet owners out there -- be sure to put your phone number on your pet's collar tag!
Here she is, all tuckered out and happy to be home.
tl;dr: I'm a crazy cat guy who lost his cat. Nice lady found her.

Took my dirtbike out for the first time yesterday and just puttered up and down two trails getting a feel for it when I came across a rocky ridge with a small cooler on top of it. Went to take a look and see if the trail continued and found a pile of garbage some idiot dumped up there. Posted it to Facebook and instantly had a good buddy of mine offering to help me haul it out of there with his truck so he picked up my girlfriend and I and off we went. He found an old Fortis bill in the first bag we checked so I sent the pics and info off to a Conservation officer and the local RCMP.
Spoilered cause the pics are large.
What I thought was just a small cooler I could hook to my bike.
Spoiler!
Pile of garbage, everything from cassettes to bras to leaf springs to kids toys.
Spoiler!
Much better.
Spoiler!
I'm actually amazed that someone got all that stuff up there, as the Nissan was fully loaded by the time we finished but almost too big to properly back up there.
Of course to cancel that out some idiots had to go and break into my Jeep last night, make a mess and steal my ashtray full of coins and some relays, a few receipts and a peanut M&M. I'm mainly mad about the ashtray as now I don't have anywhere to put coins.
