You gotta pay to play. Turning up the boost beyond recommended limits is just asking for trouble, anyways.

That's why you only buy Dinan and have the mods installed at BMW dealers... then you will be covered by BMW warranty.

I doubt the cause of failure can be attributed to high boost alone. The N54 have its own fair share of problems from the factory anyways. That guy was running V2 and its not the most demanding piggyback out on the market. Most tuners run higher boost than what that guy with V2 is probably running for years. There are hundreds of people running it fine and I doubt those people will keep their mouth shut if this was indeed a big scale problem. Not to mention that at higher altitude the turbos compensate by boosting up already. Also, the safety implemented in the ECU nowadays are so advanced its strange for the car to simply blow up and not even throw a limp mode first. I think this guy is overboosting way beyond what even the tuners were willing to venture or there is something he is not telling us. I think the owner should have taken more care before playing into unknown territory, no matter what is always pay to play. Hope they'll find the cause to this for the better of the whole N54 community.

Yes, stock HFFP's are covered. I was at Autowest last week for an oil change and I was asking a service rep about HFFP failures. He told me most failures occurred on the 07 and 08 335i's, the 2009 models have the same HFFP but BMW replaced the manufacture for the pumps so the failures have decreased. He still thinks the pump needs to be redesigned but BMW isn't going to do it because a. it costs too much to redesign, b. cheaper to just replace the failing pumps and c. easier to redesign the pump and replace it when the new 3 series comes out.

Well, if he can afford a Bimmer, I'm sure he can afford to repair it. Sucks nevertheless.

^ I agree, I like NA more as well......turbos are great for all out power, but for driving enjoyment, high revving NA motors with decent displacement are hard to beat. It is sad, the new Ms will lose the high revving motors......I think the BMW 5.0 V10 is going to be one of the greatest motors of all time.......
