I got the set used. It was a bonus to be able to retain the stock look.

Big dumps of snow like last year don't happen often enough around here that they need to make a budget for clearing side streets.

when it dips below 5 degrees i think your snow tires are going to be a lot better for grip than your summers, regardless of width

besides, when it gets to be that time, it could snow a shit-ton all of a sudden and then you'd suddenly be stranded.

well, in previous years they would leave the side streets for last after clearing the main roads. last year, they didn't even bother doing it at all. i still remember having to slalom thru side streets with buried abandoned cars that have been sitting for weeks because no one can move or tow them away.

Mugen EvOlutioN 10-16-2009 10:13 AM

last year was a chaos

!Yaminashi 10-16-2009 10:58 AM

While I agree with the theory, I found in practice that immediately after swapping I was spinning the tires when starting at intersections on cold nights.
So I conclude from that that I had more grip before the swap even in the cold.
However, Azenis are scary as hell in the snow (or hail), so I'll swap mid December at the latest.

The Project car goes into the garage for winter work this weekend. Time to revive my winter beater.

It is bitter sweet to park the beast - sucks to not drive it, but it's exciting to start making it better for next year!
