What's your 3G Speedtest? In a similar fashion to the Speedtest thread in the Computer forum, I thought it would be fun to have a 3G thread here. The best way to test would probably to tether to a PC and use the full version website. Here is my result... I'll try several different locations and see if it improves. I doubt I'll ever see full 7.2 Mbps, but it would be nice to get higher than this! http://www.speedtest.net/result/595427296.png |
I get around 60 KB/s to 740 KB/s. 3.6 Mbps MY ASS. :lol |
I have to say, my first day of 3G has been great. It makes my phone infinitely more useful. I was using it to research while shopping for an oven, even downloading a 6MB PDF file, something that would have been impossible with 2G. But holy crap does it rip through battery life! |
K lets try this again. 4:42AM Rogers Network. Wireless tethering. North Burnaby http://www.speedtest.net/result/595596216.png |
^ Do you live in the Capitol Hill area? |
Somewhat in that area. Closer to the skytrains. |
3G sucks at my place.... a lot faster when I'm at my office tho... http://www.speedtest.net/result/596031514.png did it again... download speed went up, but upload speed went down.... lol http://www.speedtest.net/result/596032501.png got a bit faster for download, but upload continue going down!!! http://www.speedtest.net/result/596034101.png Compared with my ISP http://www.speedtest.net/result/596034853.png |

Holy crap BCRDUKES how did you manage to get 6X the bandwidth as everyone else? |
Actually, that's just a slow day for me. I've gotten speeds of up to 5.5Mbps. |
Do you work for them or something? lol |
I wish. |

I thought while I'm at it, I might as well test out all my connections... My regular ISP http://www.speedtest.net/result/597293850.png Directly connected on Blackberry Bold. Don't know why my upload is so slow! Tested a couple time with the same result. http://www.speedtest.net/result/597300774.png Bluetooth on Blackberry Bold. Upload is faster using bluetooth for some reason. http://www.speedtest.net/result/597304288.png |
http://www.speedtest.net/result/597332479.png No matter where I go in Burnaby, Richmond, Surrey, or Vancouver, I always get these crappy 3G speeds on my 3G iPhone. |
^ I think your phone is fUx0r3d. |

I'm not sure what you guys are doing but I get some pretty good speeds and that's approximately average for me. :lol I'm using a Novatel USB stick, a Nokia N95, and an iPhone (both are tethered.) |
I wanted to see my full download potential, and using 20 download streams I get about 4.3 Mbps from home, from the Giganews server in USA |
iPhone Wifi: http://www.speedtest.net/iphone/15694324.png iPhone 3G: http://www.speedtest.net/iphone/15694452.png Home Wifi: http://www.speedtest.net/result/593817052.png |
I hate you all. Rogers Wireless, N97 NAM running at full "3.5G" in Killarney: http://www.speedtest.net/result/601719486.png http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/854...1024124646.jpg But how come you guys get the Richmond server instead? I was wondering that, and tried it again using the Richmond server: http://www.speedtest.net/result/601722049.png And the Vancouver server: http://www.speedtest.net/result/601722609.png This ain't cool, man. |

I know that. The point is, it's much, much slower than it should be. 3.6 Mbps my foot! |
