| Help. Brake problem with my new Suzuki SX4
Dear fellow Revscene members,
I recently bought a new Suzuki SX4 and m having brake problem.
The brake feel of the car is very unprogressive. When I depress the brake pedal, the first quarter of the brake pedal travel is very light and is very sensitive. Even I lightly tap on the brake pedal, the car will stop rapidly.
However, after the first quarter of the brake pedal travel, the brake pedal becomes much harder to depress.
I also hear a loud "hissing" sound when I depress the brake pedal.
What's wrong with the brake? The car has about 300kms on it.
Thank you so much for your help.

Take it back to the dealership.. could be the brake cylinder.

It's brand new with warrantee. Just bring it back and let them deal with it. They'll tell you if there's a problem or not.

haha
if i remember correctly, mazda 3 had a similar issue, there was a flaw in the design and when it would rain some water would get on the brakes causing it to 'squeek loudly'
Could be a similar issue?

Does it sound normal? I m hoping so, but with that being normal, it's hard to brake well consistently.
I will for sure bring the car back to the dealer. I want to have some insight before I bring the car back.

sounds perfectly normal.
I've been working for a rental car company for a couple years now and I've been in many brand new sx4s.
btw, it's the same deal for new nissan sentras. very sensitive brakes.
hissing sound also seem to be normal
but since I am not a technician, just for your sake go double check @ the dealership (although the chances are that they gonna tell you the same thing)

OP, that "hissing" sound MAY be your brakes being so new. I recently replaced my rotors + pads on my car and they do make a "hissing" sound when I brake.

is it a hissing sound, or squealing sound? if it's squealing, then it sounds like the brakes are just bedding in?
overall, your brakes appear to be working quite well.
