leather seat repair

car was broken into through a side passenger window (not my car). broken glass caused a tear in the leather, and on top of that, it rained for several hours through the broken window which resulted in the bottom seat cover being soaked in water, staining it as you see in the pic (seat is grey, but it has now stained to brown).

i wanted to ask if anyone knows if this can be repaired before going through the phone book looking for an upholsterer?

I think a professional can probably replace the section of leather that is damaged, but that's quite a lot of work while you're at it you can slip in some suede inserts

ICBC will cover it as a comprehensive.. take it to the dealer and get new things.

he's not icbc. he is a US resident visiting here, and he's not insured for this.

the seat is out of the car. we had to try to shop-vac all the water from the carpet and clean out the broken glass (anyone have suggestions on how to get the bits out of the inside of the door?)

i called the local dealership for him and they told me $700-800 for the bottom seatcover.

i'm really not sure what can be done. i know how the rip can be repaired and dyed to match... but can they unstain the seat or redye the entire thing?

is it expensive to do suede? alcantara maybe?

i know it would be easier for him to drive all over town hitting every upholsterer, but right now he has a busted up dash (they stole his stereo and messed up his ignition) and a garbage bag for a passenger side window so... i'm hoping to have a bit more luck here.

Call New Creations in POCO. 944.0664 They are mobile and a guy in your area will come by and give a no obligation quote. I've been using them for years and been happy with their work. To get the stuff out of the door, you'll have to remove the inner door skin. Give me a call if you need anything else.
