To clarify, Telus/Bell will only be operating on UMTS and CDMA/Analog.

But just so you understand:
Voice = UMTS
Data = HSPA
UMTS + HSPA = 3G

If Telus is not on GSM network then do you need SIM card in order for Iphone to work on CDMA or HSPA?I am currently on regular network (without SIM card) but I am curious to transfer to Telus network with SIM card.

Yes, you would need a Telus SIM card in order to be on Telus' new HSPA 3G network.

I still have my original iPhone 2G and it's great......other than the lack of a 3G radio. Other than that I think it's fairly capable compared with the the newer ones. The 3GS is special because it has a significantly better processor, but on average one won't really need it.

Just got my plan renewed with telus...got a pretty decent deal
$57 a month: half a gig data, 300 anytime, free telus to telus, free after 6 and weekends, voicemail, texting, caller id, call waiting.....and a bold 9700!!! |
