Well, to answer your question: Yes.

But just so you understand:

Voice = UMTS
Data = HSPA

UMTS + HSPA = 3G

If Telus is not on GSM network then do you need SIM card in order for Iphone to work on CDMA or HSPA?I am currently on regular network (without SIM card) but I am curious to transfer to Telus network with SIM card.

Yes, you would need a Telus SIM card in order to be on Telus' new HSPA 3G network.

Telus is on a rampage. They're getting the HSPA Palm Pre and the Palm Pixi (CDMA?) in Jan. 2010.

They must've figured that they need to ramp it up to stay in business. I can assume that Telus lost a lot of customers in the last few years. In cell phone, home phones and tv.

iPhone 3GS. The Hero is great, but can't match the iPhone yet I think.

I still have my original iPhone 2G and it's great......other than the lack of a 3G radio. Other than that I think it's fairly capable compared with the the newer ones. The 3GS is special because it has a significantly better processor, but on average one won't really need it.
