Defogging your windows in Vancouver's gay winter Fuck vancouver weather - hot, cold, hot, cold, rainy, hot, cold, rainy, hot. but that's another thread... anyway, my defoggy thing in my car is broken, so my car's constantly fogged up. I use AC at full blast, but that takes time still for the back window and can be a pain in the cold weather. So I found this rainx stuff - not the kind you spray outside, but an inside window one that's supposed to keep fog away. It did the job, but now the windows instead of fogging up, HAZE UP...which is pretty much the same thing. Anyone got any alternatives or options to keep fog out?! HELP |
Uhh... I'm no rocket scientist, but here's an idea... Fix the defroster grid. |
Door seals, keep the moisture out. |

uhh... I'm not a rocket scientist either, which is why I'd rather go for a cheaper solution for something that can easily be fixed in a much cheaper manner. |
use the Heater at full blast... |

check to see if u blew the fuse first. thats probably the easiest. and isnt there those defrost quick fixes u can buy at canadian tire. it fixes that wire grid to defrost. when blasting full heat, leave a little bit of window open for the moist air to escape. then ur windows wont be so frosted. |
wipe it off |
I turn my heater on when my front windshield is fogged. |

i'll check out canadian tire. What happens right now, is when i press the defog thing, it does not press in nor does any light go on. I do hear a brief "tick" sound though. I'll check the fuse and check Canadian tire, good ideas |
hair dryer into 12v socket :) |
*watches drunkrussian get taken down by the cops and SWAT because they thought he was waving a gun around inside the car but instead he was just trying to defrost w/ a hair dryer...* hahahaha Quote:

Take it to a RevScene sponsor and let them take care of it.. it should not take more than 1 hour shop time. It sounds like there is a short somewhere (could be cuts on the grid). RainX etc.. don't work well unless your windows are superclean.. usually after you claybar it.. inside and out. If you don't have the patience to figure out the defroster, you won't have the patience to apply rainX etc correctly and get the best results. Improper application causes smears etc and make things worse. Quote:

also for those people who has an "incomplete grid" you can repair it quite cheaply with this stuff: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA280_.jpg |
For the moment I just use some clean rags to defog, I'm getting some RainX from family next time they visit from the States. Luckily, both my front and rear defogs work even though my car is old, I just clean off the drivers and passengers windows. |

Window cleaner, like InvisibleGlass or something. Then apply RainX on clean window. |
another easy method: if you can, park inside a garage. |

So to save a couple of bucks you would compromise your safety and drivers around you? That's why in more advanced civilizations like Europe, your car would be taken off the road for not passing TueV or MOT. |
before you applied the rainex, did you wipe the windows down with windex first? maybe your windows were dirty, so when you applied the rainex on top of the contamination, this causes haze? just a thought |
