had a weird glitch after upgrading to .415

battery life showed as full all day, and had the charging symbol even when i was out.
thought it was weird that the batt symbol was full all day. normally it would be around half by the end of the work day.
came home, used the phone a bit more, still showed full batt charging symbol, then died without warning.

you can do it with third party places for like $30ish

if you get telus or bell to do it for you for $75
but if bell or telus does it for your, it does not void your warrenty.

unit 12-13-2009 01:18 PM

and if you pay $30 and do it for rogers, it voids your warranty?

k2_alpha 12-13-2009 01:51 PM

unlocking a phone is changing the phones program
with then in turns voids your warrenty.

w00tgasm 12-13-2009 10:21 PM

On my 3rd 9700...
This one's s key doesn't like to work...

This is getting ridiculous.

What do international bbm msgs cost? Recipient and sender both charged? Can I bbm with just a wifi connection?

Alphamale 12-14-2009 01:39 AM

No, int'l BBM msg doesn't cost money. No, you cannot BBM over wifi. Data plan is a must (or similar).

I have data here and will be going to hk. Ill prob buy a temp sim card from a 711. So I guess that means I can't bbm huh

I would assume that you can't BIS with your pre-paid HK SIM. 99% chance no, but maybe someone with actual experience will chime in.

kayceeee 12-14-2009 12:18 PM

As long as the temp sim from hk has a bis plan to it then yes if not then no but I'm not too sure if there's any prepaid sim in hk that has bis/data

http://www.hk.chinamobile.com/p_prep...pertalk_en.jsp

China mobile has unlimted GPRS option 78$ hkd per month which you can subtract from their prepaid sim which isn't too bad. I'm just wondering if the emails you setup on your BB would be pushed or not onto your prepaid SIM or would I only be able to check emails through webmail.
Anyone know?

I thought you couldn't use BIS on a different carrier when your PIN is linked to your current account. This meaning that if you have a contract with Rogers and your PIN is currently being used with that specific Rogers account, BIS won't let you register the same PIN with a different carrier because Rogers is using that PIN already (i.e. BIS won't register the same PIN to 2 different carriers at the same time).

I say this from experience because I traveled overseas during the summer and activated a data plan for 3 months in a different country, but BIS never worked for me. Did some research and read something similar to the above statement I made.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but someone else can maybe give you more info.

Your right. Totally forgot about that!
