Got my Blacked out housing with top cover today. Waiting for my refurb replacement before I install it :). I notice sometimes when I pull the phone out form the holster it lags like a mother... and takes like 30 seconds to "warm up" and then everything flows smoothly. Pissin me off lately.

I finally joined the black berry crew, I have a reason to visit the cellphone forums now LOL.

so I've noticed, when i recieve texts sometimes the name doesnt show, just a number, but they're in my contacts list. is this to do with the +1604 vs straight up just 604 the way u programmed it in your phone?

sorry i don't know jack about phones.

This is a known bug with the 9700.

Not sure if there's an official fix for it yet.

But if you are annoyed of the fact that the number is showing instead of the name, you fix it by changing the contact number by having no spaces and the "+" sign.

How so?

If you're talking about the right side of the bezel that makes a clicking noise when you push it in, mine magically disappeared.

Unless it's your trackpad that's leaning towards to the left, I have the same problem but I completely ignore it.:haha:

dr.funk 01-02-2010 04:25 PM

any notice that the whole touch pad thing is a bit lose or wiggly? but the 9700 is pretty fast !

skyxx 01-02-2010 05:55 PM

i removed it from my phone lol it was totally lagging it like mad.

i got another question...

I have a password for my phone and after X amount of seconds of idle it locks...

now is it possible to change the amount of time it takes before it prompts me for a pw?

cuz say i recieve texts every 30 seconds or every other minute. i have to keep fucking typing in my PW.

btw, i still want a pw. so i dont want to disable it (even though it's greyed out and doesnt let me disable passwords... wtf!?)

yeah what's the solution here. fuckin annoying.

You should be able to choose the security timeout

oh both mine right and left side have a clicking noise hahah..
and i have a loose rogers logo piece..well a little bit
and the silver plastic lines between each keypad row..well two of them kinda cracked lol..
yes my trackpad leans towards the top left corner...AND...if u listen carefully it sqeaks as you change the direction ur finger moves on the trackpad..
LAST but not least...when i tried to wipe everything out and reset the phone..the phone wouldn't boot after the wipe and had this white screen error...fixed it by installing new firmware though

ehh security time out... isnt that if i fuck my password up 10 times it will be security timed out for 30min
thats not what i mean

i dont want to be promted for my password everytime i check my phone for msgs, but i want it to prompt me for a pw if i dont use my phone for a long while.

Gh0stRider 01-02-2010 11:46 PM

No man. Security time out is like after 30 mins of no activity, then it will lock the phone.

pros/cons depend on the user. imo, the 9700 is everything the 9000 is, but packed into a smaller phone (therefore, slightly smaller keys) with a higher screen resolution (b/c the screen is smaller, there are more pixels per inch so high res images look better on the 9700). trackpad opinions vary among users. I personally like it better, but you'll get to experience the difference soon. camera is better on the 9700 as well (3.2mp vs. 2mp).

just wait for the switch. you'll realize then which is better for you.
