just switched from a 9000 to a 9700
overall, it is an upgrade, but i seriously miss the big screen and bigger keypad of the 9000
and also, my 9700 has some build quality issues?
i'm under rogers, but bought an unlocked bell phone. for some reason, my "n" button doesn't register and is not very sensitive...
in order for me to type "n" i have to either push it at an angle, or press it really hard. is there any way to fix that?
overall it is a great phone, but build quality is lacking...

I'm so tempted to upgrade to the 9700 from the 9000. There's just a couple of things I'm not too sure of. One being the overall build quality of the phone, is it better or comparable to the 9000? Because the 9000 is seriously solid like a fucking Cadillac, its also big and has a lot of room to text. Another thing being the loud speaker, is it as good as or better then the 9000's speaker??

I've been on this wagon for a while now. 2 of my buddies have the 9700 and they say it only has 1 speaker. Thats one thing I like about the 9000, the REALLY loud speakers

I also dont feel like paying $500 for one either..

I was never a fan of the large 9000. Im happy with the 9700, I don't regret upgrading.

Did you buy the phone from a store?

If so did you pay cash or cash along with the tax?

If you paid cash then you're out of luck, but I'm not too sure on it.

pros/cons depend on the user. imo, the 9700 is everything the 9000 is, but packed into a smaller phone (therefore, slightly smaller keys) with a higher screen resolution (b/c the screen is smaller, there are more pixels per inch so high res images look better on the 9700). trackpad opinions vary among users. I personally like it better, but you'll get to experience the difference soon. camera is better on the 9700 as well (3.2mp vs. 2mp).

just wait for the switch. you'll realize then which is better for you.

Thx for the input, I think I'm gna grab the 9700 see how it feels for a day or 2 than make a final decision.

Just got the 9700 and I gotta admit I already love it more than the 9000, the size is the best part way smaller and lighter, and the keyboard really only took me about a hour to get used to, all in all great phone, BB ftw!!

I have gone through 3 bold 9000's. My black one got smashed and then I got another black one, then went rogers to get the white bold 9000 for $1 and sold my black bold for $400. Then got a sweet deal on a BNIB 9700 for $400 :D bold 2 FTW.

skyxx 01-10-2010 10:52 PM

rsx10 01-10-2010 11:55 PM

i don't know u have to pay for an app or you can do it from your setting somewhere

thanks
