Also, Rogers/Fido people can't call my fianace for some reason. When they try to call her, it says "the number cannot be completed as dialed, please try your call again". Her phone doesn't even ring but any landline and/or other network calling her works fine. Do you guys think this is a handset or network issue?

just wanted to clear up something, for the telus speed, that's 4.7mb/s on the avg download speed, but doesn't the bold have a max of 3.6mb/s? or does telus's bold have a max higher than 3.6mb/s?

Intermittent voice quality issues have been identified on the BlackBerry Boldhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adT...lass_10x10.gif 9000 and BlackBerry Bold 9700 smartphones. Clients on a voice call may experience noise disruptions, requiring a client to disconnect and re-establish the voice call. This is not a network issue - once the software versions have been updated, the issue will be resolved.

Bell is currently in the process of certifying a software upgrade to address this issue. In the coming weeks, clients using these smartphones with the software versions listed below will be contacted via SMS with steps on how to update their device:

It's still a bold. High end flagship bb is the bold. It was codenamed Onyx.

exactly, that's why it's stupid to go for it right away. when the bold 9000 came out it was $299 with 3 year, now it's $99. I was gonna get it at $299, but if you think about it, phones are like cars, they depreciate, so why go for the new models when you can wait a year or so and buy it at more than 50% of the actual value?

let's compare the 9000 to the 9700, for $200, you're getting...

3.2mp camera rather than 2mp
a trackpad, which would be much harder and expensive to replace if broken
you get 480x360 resolution rather than 480x320
os5.0 instead of 4.6
you can upgrade up to 16gb rather than 8gb
longer lasting battery
and newer version of bluetooth

all this for an extra $200 is not worth it.

the whole phone is still the same design, the apps are still the same. nothing has really changed

^yeah but some people just like to get caught up with the latest device hype.
it's just personal preference imo, just like some people would buy a $50k lexus over a $20k corolla, even though to most people, a car's a car, as long as it has 4 wheels then it's all good.

I finally made the switch from my se k790a to the 9700 yesterday. Liking it so far. To me, it was worth the extra $200 to get the 9700 rather than the 9000. The keypad felt nicer, the trackpad suits me more, better battery life from the research I did, better screen pixel density, brighter screen, and smaller size tipped the scales for me. Nothing against the original 9000, as both are definitely very good phones.

Im going to pick one up tmr and just wanted to make sure the only difference between the Bellus and Rogers ones are that the Telus ones dont have EDGE/GPRS right? Just 3G HSPA only? So for the times I'm out of coverage GSM 2G wont save my ass? Im getting a smoking deal on it tmr and can live without boonie out of Lower Mainland coverage.

Edit: NVM I think it also works on EDGE as well if anyone can clarify.

Telus and Bell don't have GSM 2G networks...
So if you're using one of those two SIMs you get 'No Service'

If you unlock either and use a Fido Or Rogers, you will fall back to Edge/2G.
You'll be fine.
