^ I don't think that is possible because this is an unofficial leak meaning there won't be any wireless updates as it is not provided by your carrier.

It is quick and responsive, loving it right now although you don't get to see much of your background as it doesn't have that much space to show it due to theme and the small screen resolution of this phone.

I'm on the new browser as I type this and I must say it is probably the biggest improvement on upgrade, yay for tabs on the new browser :D.

We have waited so long for this and it has finally came out, every morning when i wake up , I always check crackberry.com and today when I saw the news I thought I was being trolled or was dreaming, luckily that wasn't the case. :D

I must say the universal search is pretty useful and if you want to look back to old message it is way more responsive than before.

After the upgrade , you should do a few battery pulls to let it sink into your phone because it was a bit laggy at first but now it has loosen up and the little clock thing in the middle does not show up anymore but before that it kept appearing.

Ah dang, I should get into the habbit of always bringing my microusb.

illicitstylz 11-02-2010 01:27 PM

is it justt me or you can't have shortcuts from the homescreen anymore?

Grandmaster TSE 11-02-2010 01:38 PM

did you back up all your service books illicitstylz???

or just a regular backup and install?

Gh0stRider 11-02-2010 01:45 PM

service books should automatically send from rogers.

Grandmaster TSE 11-02-2010 01:46 PM

so just regular backup and install os?

josayeee 11-02-2010 06:43 PM

Spent all day trying to get this to work on my BB. I've been waiting for this for so long and I couldn't get it to work. I've read the crackberry forums like crazy and no luck. Was having problems with the phone before hand though. sigh...

illicitstylz 11-02-2010 06:53 PM

didn't back up the service books.

decided if it didn't work i'd just go back to os5 and wait for another os6 leak.

fortunately it worked for me.

just installed it through BBSAK

update: used it for today, wow the battery life on this OS, is TERRIBLE. I've always been able to do like 3 days almost on my 5.0.656 with consistent BBM/browsing/calls, meterberry always reported 1.5-2.5% discharge rate per hour.

now under os6, i'm getting, 9.9% discharge rate per hour. from 40% down to 8% in 3 hours...

Finally got OS6 on my phone. Like it a lot better than OS5. Haven't ran into any bugs yet though.

where to get os 6 for 9700? :D

ws6ta 11-03-2010 09:30 AM

so sick of my iphone4. anyone know when the 9780 is coming?

6insomnia9 11-03-2010 10:11 AM

9780 got delay for Bell, so I think Rogers will release theirs first, probably either anytime from end of November to mid Decemeber, I am guessing.

Get os6 at crackberry.com

crackberry.com forums, look under the "leaked unofficial OS" category

saucywoman 11-03-2010 03:03 PM

wow this new OS is different. I liked the alerts on the OS 5 system a lot better but I still do like os6

6insomnia9 11-03-2010 03:26 PM

You can get the alerts back from OS5.

saucywoman 11-03-2010 03:46 PM

how?? Do tell please :D

illicitstylz 11-03-2010 03:49 PM

Loving the new browser. Cursor skips around sometimes but bugs are expected in leaked os's.

Youtube stream off the browser is great.

is it normal for bbm chat history to be deleted after an OS update?

ForbiddenX 11-03-2010 04:21 PM

read it happening to a lot of users on CB actually.
I have that error as well, just going to have to live without it until another release.

Didn't have to tweak anything to be honest. I remember reading something about modifying your APN settings.

saucywoman 11-03-2010 06:43 PM

Thanks for this :) although I'm lazy and don't feel like doing that so ill just leave it as is lol

So after a day of having os6 I'll give my feedback to those here.

Battery life I've noticed compared to when I was on os5 is better. Maybe its just today, but when I compare it to the same usage before when I was on os5 this seems to be better, despite those saying this has battery leakage?

Browser. What more can I say? Tabbed browsing is something we all wished for and we finally have it. Its a lot better, smoother, faster. This is by far the biggest improvement that RIM has done for us.

Startup is obviously faster as shown in the videos. Cut down by almost half.

The app memory I have right now is 43ish after a batt pull. I have quite a few apps on it and it doesn't lag.

Everything is a transition on this and it looks awesome I love it. The menus look a lot better and cleaner. Before when I was on os5 I would get the waiting time clock, but now I don't get it anymore.

I give this update a 8/10. Reason that its not a 10 is because for one I'd like to have more app memory and this os wasn't designed for our phones. And how the old ringtones aren't installed with the os. Other than that I love it.
