the browser blows - not intuitive at all, pain in the ass to play videos when you have to switch modes to watch them. Overall media playback quality is low except for pictures.

Finally got mine today and oh man I love the feel vs the 9000. I find the kb kinda stiff tho and my menu button doesnt have as much of a tactile feedback vs the back button. Weird

Att full retail is $450 USD.

BUT, i gave the bellingham corporate store, and their 1800 to confirm, apparently, you HAVE to be an existing customer with ATT in order to buy the bold at a no commitment pricing.

There's a way around this, if you activate a prepaid phone (Go Phone) on ATT, but then they would force you to buy a $100 prepaid account in order to buy the 9700 at a no contract price.

So pretty much, we're out of luck

^^ so it comes to $550 USD = $585.42 CAD

still cheaper.

i read it was $750, and some guy said on the cb forums said he paid that much.

$550 + 7% washington sales tax + exchange rate + gas + time = i'd rather buy it in canada

But I wonder if you could activate a monthly plan in the states with no contract, but the phone at a no contract price, then call in and cancel

so it's $450 + tax + 1 month plan

hmm, i called the bellingham corp store TWICE, and they said they wont sell it to prepaid, you must have a monthly plan, i even called the 1800 line and they said the same thing.

I have a old de-activated att sim card that was setup as prepaid 2 years ago, and they said that I don't qualify for a no contract price also.

Maybe the ones on CB brought it from non-corp stores? ie, independent retailers? i'm not sure

Damn all this is making me want the phone more and more!

Anyone notice theres having the tilting trackpad issue? I know mine does Its not even a big deal. It doesnt affect the phone in any way, just knowing I have a sub par one makes me sad. Also I found a dead pixel and when I take pictures of a keyboard for example I notice around the centre of the auto focus area the keys look ghosted and mirror, making me believe somethings distoreted with my lens. Should I send it back to Rogers and get a refurbed one or tough it out. People on CB are experiencing some of the problems im getting as well.

ATT Bold 9000 won't run on Rogers(4000 series) and Fido's(2000 series) sim cards. 3G does not work here. Pretty sure they did the same with 9700.

wow that's interesting, thanks for bringing it up.

so, are you saying if I used a different Rogers/Fido sim card that is not a 4000, or 1000 series, 3G would work here?

Just that 3G wouldn't work if I was using that specific sim card?

You won't receive any signal with 4000 and 2000 series sim cards on at&t bolds(3G on). Switching to EDGE will work fine.

3040 and 1000 series sim cards will work but You will drop calls now and then. These are also very hard to find.
