I posted this several pages back but wasn't really able to get a clear answer..

This is happening on my friends BB 9700, I have no idea what it is but the yellow icon looks like a globe logo like the one for the browser. Anyone know what it is?

Spam. Blackberry or any professional company for that matter would inform us in a more official way. Purple just means it's a broadcasted message

OS6 for 9700 yet, just a leaked version. If I had a 9700 I'd probably wait for the official one since I get easily pissed off by bugs lol.. had issues changing my BBM display pic as well.. BB FB page says it's been fixed but haven't tried

"i Found this on another site, and it actually works... so it will help you. A yellow globe.... open your main messages folder and click the Menu key (left of the trackball) to VIEW FOLDERS. Look first in WAP messages, and clear or open any messages there. If not there, check browser messages too"

Alpine50 12-08-2010 05:05 AM

^^^^^ so many people sent this garbage so freacken annoying. how the hells a text supposed to update your bbm. ppl are so stupid

josayeee 12-08-2010 10:54 AM

Updated to 6.0.0.380. So far no major difference from the first os6 leak. The memory leak is still there but its not as bad. A battery pull makes everything fast again.

the global icon is mostly a game update or something. You can clear it from what the above poster said!

Anyways, REALLY A NUB question, but I have a the social network plan, and therefore no data plan ( I dont need it anyways) Therefore I decided to turn off my mobile network off. However, my bbm does not receive any updates from people or even text as a matter until I turn the mobile network back on.

So my question is does bbm require the network? data?
what about instant msging (msn)?

Again I know its a noob question -_____________-

Razor Ramon HG 12-10-2010 12:23 PM

If you turn off mobile network, you turn off all connections to your provider. You won't get calls, texts, etc.

BBM and MSN both requires data.

You don't really need data to use msn, bbm, fb/email (depends which one you have) when you have social network plan. You won't go on browser by accident because when you try to open it, the sign pop out say this is a wifi-network or something like that.
But yes you need network to get everything working, when you turn it off, you won't get calls, texts or anything.

I'd just like to say, those of you with a 9700 and are debating on whether or not to upgrade to the 9780, its definitely worth it.

Gh0stRider 12-10-2010 07:46 PM

i got the email/im plan and i turn off my mobile network and connect with wifi and can still get bbm/email/msn.

mb_ 12-10-2010 08:17 PM

I can't remember the explaination I got but the sim tells ur bb if u have some sort of data plan or not
