@NEWS1130: BREAKING: Coroner's Service confirms one person is dead in #PortMoody due to #bcstorm. Appears a tree blew over, fell on victim.

Damn, RIP

bcuzracecarz 03-10-2016 09:53 AM

well that's about the worst luck ever, that's awful

Gh0stRider 03-10-2016 12:20 PM

worst part was that she was at home sleeping.

Quote:

METRO VANCOUVER - One woman is dead after a tree fell on a house in Port Moody during a severe windstorm that whipped across B.C.’s South Coast Thursday morning.

The woman, in her 50s, was sleeping at around 6:30 a.m., when the tree came crashing down through the roof of their house in the Mountain Meadows neighbourhood on Heritage Mountain.

BC Coroners Service spokeswoman Barb McLintock confirmed the coroner is investigating, but did not release any details about what happened.

Port Moody mayor Mike Clay said it’s believed the woman’s husband was in a different part of the house when the tree came down, trapping the woman in an upstairs bedroom. Clay said emergency crews tried to extract the woman, but were hampered by how much damage the tree had done to the house. It’s unknown whether there was anyone else in the house at the time.

“It’s just horrible ... this happened in a really tight-knit neighbourhood. This is going to be tough on the entire community,” he said, adding that the city will do whatever it can to help the family deal with this tragedy.

That's probably the best part, actually, assuming it was an instant death.

I'd rather go to sleep and never wake up, myself.

Obsideon 03-10-2016 08:43 PM

Totally OT; but that's what I always tell myself, try to live life to the fullest. Not to the extreme extent of 'YOLO' but you never know if you gonna get crushed by a tree at home in bed.
Not sure if you all remember the incident where that private plane crashed into a building in Richmond years back, luckily the suite that the plane hit was empty. My friend was actually just in the suite next door watching TV in the living room, imagine it went through her window instead!

Live a little, go traveling, eat delicious food. :)

ZN6 03-13-2016 06:31 PM

Lol and in the summer we were hurting bad for rain. I rode today, it was absolutely shit on the way home.

MG1 03-13-2016 06:32 PM

Better to rain like shit now, so we can have an awesome summer like last year, yes?

Then we'd be complaining about watering ban. This year, I'll be prepared with rain collecting barrels.

Three of these would be about right, lol.
