Wonder how much of this food ends up in the garbage because people bought way more than they can consume before it goes bad.

Not sure what everyone's doing with all the milk though |

Judging from the toilet paper situation most of these people barely understand taking a shit so I don’t think they will be canning much haha.
Amazing how these situations can bring out the best in the people who are actually suffering (like the communities of hope and Abby) but bring out the worst in people that are literally experiencing zero hardship from the situation.

You can say that natural disasters and pandemics such as Covid bring out the best and the worst in humanity.
Those motherfucker anti-vaxxers who protested outside of hospitals such as VGH in September.
People hoarding toilet paper and food with their panic buying are the idiots who are causing the food shortages instead of bottlenecks in supply chains because of our broken highways.
People assaulting and harrassing women in downtown Vancouver because they think they can get away with it when they wear a mask. Fucking racists who attack Asian seniors and VPD reporting a huge increase in assaults against Asian Canadians during this pandemic.
The list goes on and on and on.
The best news that I have heard this week are the reports about the hundreds of volunteers who placed sandbags to make a dam at the pumping station. -buying more time for Abbotsford so that we hope that water levels recede in order for relief work to begin.

You'll see some people grabbing extra slices because they want to make sure they have enough whereas others will only grab one because they want to ensure that there is enough for everyone.

Doesnt help that the news outlets keep talking about supply chain issues and empty shelves, fuels the fire
Unfortunately it's the people who dont hoard that will suffer when there is nothing left for them

I wonder whether the hoarding of food from people because of perceived shortage will be worse now compared to the hoarding at the start of the pandemic in March 2020.
The first time that I saw hoarding was in March last year at a T&T supermarket.
A senior just stuck out his arm into aisle to swipe at a row of boxes of salt to fall into his shopping cart. SALT.
Twelve boxes of salt.
Is somebody using so much salt at home for cooking or does he think he can use that table salt to melt snow during winter?

Would be sweet if someone was waiting in the parking lot and they got radioed when someone walked out with like 5 cases of TP, and could just confiscate it and give it to charity/the places that need those products after they already paid for it.

-federal government official is saying that Turd is 100 percent behind rebuilding BC infrastructure. Of course, the first priority is make sure people affected by the storms are safe.
Reporter question about Port of Vancouver capacity. What is the capacity at Port of Prince Rupert and Vancouver?
Answer: Federal gov't official is looking at how quickly at how they can restore railways. They are examining all options as they speak.
Question: What is the equipment that the Canadian military is using?
General Wayne Eyre: This is our top operational priority. The world is more dangerous now than in the past. -more geopolitical threats. More extreme climate threats. We stand ready to help Canadians in any way that is needed.
More supplies and necessary equipment will be provided to the Canadian Armed Forces so that they can do their jobs in these types of operations.
Water purification and engineering skills for bridge building will be required from the Canadian Armed Forces in Edmonton and other military sites.

Went to check out Costco earlier and car traffic was horrendous, bailed and went to superstore instead. Everything was normal, chicken, eggs, milk, pretty much everything was in stock, wasn't too busy either.

Prince George isn't cut off from the rest of Canada...from Vancouver, sure, but they have zero problems getting stuff in from AB.
Any shortages they're experiencing are self-inflicted by retarded residents who somehow think flooding in south BC is going to affect them catastrophically.

Geeze why are all the horders always hitting up places like Costco, Superstore, Walmart? Sounds like an exercise in masochism even in the best of times.
Just go to your local Safeway, Save-Ons, Urban Fare where none of this BS is happening. The other places need to put in per-customer limits and enforce them FFS.

not sure about Canada Post - probably the same.
I've got some antsy customers right now. I'm trying to subtly encourage them to have some perspective about the situation.

Maybe a better analogy is like they don't quite value their time nearly as much as they could be? So, in their minds its worth fighting the crowds to continue to save that dollar or two on a 48 pack of chicken wings. I'm a regular Costco shopper and I will be avoiding the place for the next little while it seems.
I dropped by Safeway last night and it was as dead as ever. |

I just processed a bunch of shipments that went out today via FedEx Express / Canada Post Xpresspost cause the ground drivers said ground is no longer being picked up.
Expensive af too. Quote:

Not sure if you use Shiptime but Canpar/Loomis has paused all service - it's no longer an option. Cheapest is Purolator ground (useless) and next to that is FedEx Express. If you do use Shiptime regularly, call in and try to get a better FedEx Express rate.
Purolator Express is rebranded Canada Post Xpresspost btw.
The cost of shipping via Air vs ground is pretty nuts. For ref, a 50/40/40 box to Red Deer via Canpar was $40. FedEx Economy (Air) is $89. We're comping most of the surcharge, but I expect to hear from alot of customers in QC.

I was gonna go superstore this morning but instead walked to save on here in river district. Like a normal morning, got everything we needed. Lets those fools hit up Costco/Superstore because of them my Costco stocks made me 10K last year and Loblaws another 8K
