Imagine if that pipeline was completed and flowing when this happened?

It appears we're not getting the hint here.

JDMDreams 11-19-2021 04:43 PM

They should have transported oil by rail because it was safer they said :troll:

whitev70r 11-19-2021 04:59 PM

It's very very very complicated. I'm sure they wish they could just commandeer equipment, but it simply doesn't work that way. ESPECIALLY if the federal side is involved.

Money solves all those problems.

Driving home after work today was a complete shitshow around any of the gas stations in Richmond. Line-ups around the block at every station along the way. Good thing they've enacted measures to prevent price gouging or you know they'd be pricing it $2.00 immediately.

Got about 100km of range left on the car, should be good for atleast a week. Maybe the rush will have died down by then.

So this is interesting, this is a traffic light compared to a human (granville and 3 road)

If anyone wants to see more road-signs or traffic lights up close, the Richmond Museum has a few pieces you can basically reach out and touch.
Was first surprised at how large traffic lights are as well. Basically human sized.

Do the gas station pumps automatically stop filling at 30 Litres? I filled up after work but only topped up the rest of my tank which was 25 litres worth

Gumby 11-19-2021 11:57 PM

Yeah you don’t realize how big a traffic light is cuz it’s usually high up without anything meaningful to compare its size to.

twitchyzero 11-20-2021 12:27 AM

dumb question how heavy/stable do those powerline lifts need to be for them to need a f-550?

pastarocket 11-20-2021 09:21 AM

Some drivers were bringing their jerry cans to gas stations last night.

Gumby 11-20-2021 09:30 AM

“Honour system” :lol

westopher 11-20-2021 10:05 AM

Lol imagine believing that people won’t be complete pieces of shit when given the chance.

mikemhg 11-20-2021 10:47 AM

I ended up going off on a guy @ Chevron on 1st Ave last night.

I'm sitting there waiting to fill up (I actually had an empty tank), only to watch this asshole filling up his Jeep and a few jerry cans at his slow leisure.

Had to get out of my car and give him a piece of my mind...He left quickly thereafter.

A big fuck you if you conduct yourself like that.

westopher 11-20-2021 11:27 AM

Lol I’ve seen you Mike, I’d probably leave pretty quick too if you were yelling at me.

donk. 11-20-2021 11:28 AM

Fear and greed
Iq of around 28

Then again, maybe they need gas for their atv, boat, or maybe they just like huffing fumes on their days off

6thGear. 11-20-2021 12:21 PM

I guess most gas stations haven't put in a cap? The river district Shell has a $45 preauthorized cap

inv4zn 11-20-2021 01:15 PM

I filled up 30.23L last night so definitely no hard cap.

I did see 2 different gas stations this morning where all the pumps were blocked off so either they ran out, or they're rationing on their own to last until Dec 1st.

StylinRed 11-20-2021 01:26 PM

Hwy 3 and 5 is open for essential services/travel so ppl should be at ease no? but I guess they've got a "better I'M safe than sorry" attitude

whitev70r 11-20-2021 01:39 PM

To my knowledge, gas stations cannot restrict 30L from inside (where they control things) ... I could be wrong but I don't think so. Someone who works at gas station (like Manic!) can verify or correct. That's why Horgan appealed to use honour system.

westopher 11-20-2021 01:45 PM

Can confirm that gas stations were putting caps on at the pump, however it was $45 max transaction. You realistically could do two transactions. I had to go to 4 stations today to get gas.
First one was cash only
Second was 87 only
Third was 93 only but card was authorized for max $45 then pumps wouldn’t function. Guy beside me tried two pumps and couldn’t get anything.
Last station had a paper note telling people not to put more than 30L but I put in like 30.2 cause my math wasn’t bang on. Most people were ignoring it.

Hondaracer 11-20-2021 04:26 PM

Seems like the world is gonna be done pretty quick so I think I’ll stop recycling

You can halt a pump from the inside at any time.

whitev70r 11-20-2021 06:20 PM

^ no, I meant, can you put a limit of 30L on all pumps automatically, across all pumps? I know you can stop any pump from inside. But that would be a huge PIA to watch every pump and stop it manually when it hit say 30L or $X.
