Forecast is calling for another 'atmospheric river' ... joy.

Teriyaki 01-10-2022 05:23 PM

Go and do yourself and neighbours a favor by checking and clearing the storm drains on your block/etc.

Cold spell coming this week. If you have your external faucet on, you may want to turn those off from the inside ... evenings going down to negative.

^I just replaced my frost free hose bib because it was leaking really bad when using it. Turns out that the last cold spell we had, expanded inside the wall. I'm lucky that the metal didn't crack and leak. This time I'm going to shut off from inside the house and disconnect the hose.

One of my frost free bib's is also leaking. Looks like a rubber gasket ripped. At least is is only leaking outside the house.
I went into the crawl space and there is only one with a shutoff valve was replaced by the previous owner.

Guess one of my to do projects this spring is to replace the 2 remaining ones and put in a manual shut off valve.

The good ol' fake Spring on Superbowl weekend sure didn't last long.

AzNightmare 02-22-2022 07:06 PM

yeah, hope you guys still have your winter tires on.

Damn, what a day out there on the roads. I was all local today, Richmond, UBC, Downtown ... stressful driving in these conditions. Heard that Hwy 1 was closed around Coquitlam due to downed power lines !!!

This is correct, I went eastbound around 9am, power line in middle of hov lane, and looked like the entire road had one westbound
Coming back from surrey westbound around 11am, apparently it was near gridlock until hope according to a coworker. Unless there was something else over there.

Maps told me to drive through north Coquitlam because it was 65 minutes faster to get to Vancouver....

Never seen people reversing 300m from the main highway just so they can take the Coquitlam bridge route instead

Yup. Crews came in to fix the downed line, first they closed all the west bound lanes, then closed all the east bound lanes.

So ... where's the river? When is it coming? I thought it was suppose to start this afternoon?

MarkyMark 10-29-2022 05:03 PM

Think it's overnight/tomorrow

xxxrsxxx 11-04-2022 10:42 PM

Extremely windy outside, neighbours garbage bin is getting blown away.

EvoFire 11-04-2022 10:52 PM

My lights are flashing in the house. Hope power holds overnight.

MG1 11-04-2022 10:53 PM

Damn it.......... gonna have to go outside in this cold weather to check up on stuff leaning up against the garden sheds and batten down the hatches.

Praying no trees come down.

Living high up is great, because shit runs downhill, but you're basically at the mercy of the winds on nights like this.

Fucking pie plates making so much noise :troll:

Razor Ramon HG 11-05-2022 12:05 AM

My friend said a 100ft tree fell from one neighbour's house through his parent's rear driveway to the other neighbour's rear driveway

Manic! 11-05-2022 12:06 AM

Power is out on many parts of the island our gas station has been out for over 4 hours.

SSM_DC5 11-05-2022 12:42 PM

A person is in it and trapped? 911
A city tree on your car? Call the city
A tree on private property? Home insurance

Traum 10-18-2023 09:55 AM

Not liking the atmospheric river this week... at least when they happen in the middle of winter, they make the weather much warmer. But now it is just all gloomy and wet, with water everywhere...

mikemhg 10-18-2023 11:52 AM

Get used to 6 more months of this shit.

AzNightmare 10-18-2023 06:01 PM

I have to admit, Vessi shoes are pretty legit.

Of course with dumb luck, I went to two different places and parked in a stall that had a huge ass puddle right when I stepped out of my car. But my feet stayed dry. whew.
