wow... tonight was a bit of a quick test of the general altimax arctics... although we had maybe 10cm?... took the TL from north delta all through guildford/fleetwood side streets, back alleys and did not get stuck once at all...the occassional slippage when i got too cocky but quite impressed... if you dont have winter tires yet, the generals are a solid choice.

If i had left the stock oem Michelin MXM4s on... no way in heck i could have made it through some of the alleys i tested.

Yah some people think just because they got winter tires they are indestructible on the roads. You still have to be really careful, especially on smaller streets where it gets really icy. I have had ABS kick in a few times already over the past few days, even while going super slow down my road.

What's the rule of thumb for winter, generally harder or softer?

Same as OEM, but just remember that colder temperatures = lower tire pressures so make sure the tires are topped off!

How are you guys storing your all-seasons/summers? I have mine on a vertical tire stand from CT in my garage. But then I've heard that the tires should be placed in bags, as airtight as possible. Does it actually matter how they're stored for a 4 month period?

^ No, Just stack them Vertically. Do not let the tires touch Cement/concrete for a long time. I made a wooden platform so I just stacked them up vertically.

I have them on this stand

so the tires and wheels are suspended and apart from each other. Is it necessary to deflate the tires, or just keep them at ~30 psi?
