^ google reader's mobile page is excellent if you don't need the rss feeds pulled to your phone. I tried Newsrob and it didn't really make for a good reading experience. Posted via RS Mobile |
just tried out the milestone for a good 30 min, and have to say, the keyboard on it is pretty damn pointless... pretty much just a slab with keys cut out and no distinguishable feel btwn keys. slider is rock solid tho and will prolly last a long while before being loose. that being said, i'll prolly hold on just a bit longer until the nexus one comes out in canada! |
how does this compare to the n97? specs wise i know it blows it out of the water the OS is faster more ram and newer gen processors, is it worth picking this up over the n97? the n97 had the garmin xt gps and free ovi maps now compared to a-gps on the milestone? just want to hear form the RS community thanks |
I had both n97 + milestone IMO n97 is not worth its price. Resistive screen is not as good, little customization, stupid menu's with single or double tap. Not as many applications. You can get almost everything the N97 has with a n95 minus the screen resolution. I didn't find much change going from my old n95 to the n97. If all you want is gps, either just buy a gps unit for $100 or buy a n95 for about $150-200. |

Is a physical keyboard important to you? If yes, Droid; if no, N1 Posted via RS Mobile |

N1 is the true android phone so if you wanna hack at it get the NexusOne yes the Motodroid is rooted, as with the X10 |

The community here has a track record of getting stupidly expensive phones when they're stupidly new, so it's a perfectly legit question LemonT's asking. Who cares if he has 135 posts. Clearly, he respects the community's opinions more than some YouTube schmuck who thinks he knows all about the phone but can't get the damn menu to open. |

Buy the N1 Posted via RS Mobile |
Been using Milestone ever since it came out... IMO it kills iphone in most aspects. The keyboard is not the best but made the texting A LOT MORE enjoyable and convient compare to the touch screen key. The only complain I have is it can eat battery fast if you dont shutdown all your programs. There is no option to turn off 3G to go on battery saving mode like other types of phone... Also the phone reception quality near my house is pretty shitty due to the location (beside a large forest and hill) but I guess most Telus phones are like that near my area? |
^im pretty sure u can turn off 3g in the settings. But like most ppl are saying, get the nexus one. The 1ghz makes a pretty big diff in terms of web browsing, opening gallery, etc. With android 2.1 out dl, its pretty graphic intensive too, itll proly be a bit sluggish onthe droid Posted via RS Mobile |

Also, the camera was a little slower than I am used to (had an n95). Lol I actually had to think pretty hard about things I didn't like. I switched to a HTC hero because of the touch sense. Most of the issues I had with the Milestone were software related, but with 2.1 it's all fixed and I hear it's rooted too, so you can add sense UI if you like. long time man, how u been? still working at the same place? |
have they fixed the issue with the music stuttering/skipping at times? |
I want a Milestone, but waiting on it to see if it gets fully rooted so we can load custom roms, it's not worth it otherwise. Waiting on either that, or a new Android/Windows Phone 7 handset with qwerty and snapdragon cpu... 'til then I stick to my Magic. |
Playing with it today at T-mobile, seems really quick. I don't like the whole android thing though. Gotta start reading up on the custom roms.. while I was there I was also playing with the HD2. goddamn that thing has a nice screen. marco: no, not working anymore. went back to school. |
I've been a blackberry user for years, and I was convinced I was going to upgrade to an iphone, but i was reluctant as i'm used to having the qwerty keyboard. someone told me about this phone and it seems tempting. I got my girl an iphone for christmas, and lately i've been trying to type on it, but not sure if i could get used to the touch keyboard. iphone or Milestone? |
go to telus and try it out for urself. i personally couldnt get used to the keyboard. the virtual keyboard on the iphone is one of the best out there and super easy to get used to |
