1:18 diecast models

My small 1:18 Honda collection (Maisto and Autoart) consists of:

1) DC5 Integra Type R
2) DC5 Integra Type R (Mugen)
3) AP1 S2000

I'd like to complete it with all generations of Honda's R models as well as the AP2 S2000, but my searches online (EBay included) have led me to believe that the ones I'm looking for are either discontinued (NSX-R) or were never manufactured.

Does anyone know otherwise? I'm looking only for "street" vehicles; not race models, and only good --> high quality ones (I've seen some China-made crap) in the 1:18 scale size.

which maker do you get it from? I prefer Minichamps over Autoart if possible, but Autoart makes really good stuff these days....

like timpo says, kyosho was the only one i know of that had an NSX-R in 1/18 scale. i remember seeing it at a hobby shop years ago in surrey, but didn't have the foresight to buy it, not knowing it would be discontinued and increase in value because of it's collector status. the last one i saw (mint unopened) on ebay went for just under $300usd

Kyosho made the 1st generation NSX-R 15 years ago, and thats the only 1/18 street NSX-R I can think of, good luck finding one of those, $300 sounds right if you can find one.

Ouch......as I expected.

I guess I can safely assume that all the other R vehicles and the AP2 S2000 were never manufactured in the 1:18 scale then?

I think you will have a easier time collecting them in 1/24 scale.

1/24 Tamiya NSX-R 1992
1/24 Fujimi NSX-R 2005
1/24 Tamiya S2000 2001

I am pretty sure either Fujimi or Hasegawa makes the Civic Type R and Integra Type R in 1/24. I've seen EK9,EP3,DC2,DC5 before, try looking for them. If your a competent builder, the Tamiya kits are actually better than most diecast in attention to detail and accuracy of the body and various parts. I am looking to complete all the Type R collection as well, but so far I only have the NSX NA1, NSX NA2, and their GT versions. You should see if you like 1/24, the GT version even have metal underbody to increase the weight so it feels like a diecast. Obviously, the doors and trunk and hood don't open unlike diecast though.

Yes u can drive out and pick it up yourself, it's right near barnett hwy and lougheed hwy.

Scale18's prices are the lowest. Wilkinson's has a decent selection too, but they charge a bit more. Although they also have a ton of really cool stuff in the store. I highly recommend going there too if you're into cars at all.

this is a good suggestion if cost is no option. wilkinson's has a network of customers and connections that they can put out a request to for stuff they don't have in stock and there may be someone out there selling what you need and they will act as a facilitator/broker... but as ilvtofu said, it can be a little pricey because of their time and any possible shipping costs involved.

I've been thinking about starting a collection for a while. Which scale would be best to start a collection? Seems like most people here are doing 1:18s?
