has anyone ever thought that maybe they collided the particles, but nothing happened, so they just told everyone that they're doing maintenance (since countries invested 100's of trillions) while theyre actually revising the design?

and your post doesn't make sense... the whole point of the LHC is to collide protons at near light speeds...
if they managed to collide the protons the experiment was a success?
if nothing happened when they collided the particles that is still a result that they would have to report.
if something amazing happened. ie. finding the higgs they would report it..
either way, they will report it.. if they don't find anything that is just as important as finding something... Scientific Method. It's pretty simple. And all real scientist abide by it.

2. Well, a black hole hasn't formed yet, so we haven't been trapped in one. In theory, it's possible that a black hole won't form and we will all be spared the horrible death of being stuck like flies on fly paper.
Could you explain to me the likelyhood of a black hole actually forming, and where you got that data from. Or are you just pulling that info out of your ass and hoping that an idiot like me will just accept it at face value?

Do you even know what the machine/experiment is supposed to do?
It is supposed to collide particles together at NEAR LIGHT SPEEDS.
if nothing happens when the particels collide- wtf are the financial backers supposed to do? cook the books and make believe that they found the higgs? Seriosuly?
The fact is, if the LHC can collide TWO particles together... IT IS A SUCCESS. END OF STORY. The Large Hadron Collider is supposed to collide things? and if it does that.. how does it not work? the result is independent of the LHC working. Just because the LHC works, doesn't mean they'll find shit.
