Okay.. so now im trying to buy a nokia E71 but apparently i need a specific kind? so I need some shit cleared up.

I need Nokia e71 for BELL sim card... so CAN i buy the Rogers or Telus locked e71 and use it on bell after I unlock it? Apparently I need the E71-2 NAM version or something.... can someone clear this up!!!

By the way, slammer111, how is the LG xenon? Im thinking of buying that phone with my 3 year activation so I get it for around 80something$ then selling it on craigslist for more...

^^ i'm not sure how bell works, but i'll tell you how telus works. you can buy almost any unlocked phone you want and use it with their sim cards. what you need to do is give them a call with the ESN/IMEI and they can check if that phone will work with their sim cards. only thing telus will help you troubleshoot is voice and text issues though. any problems with data(web/email/etc) and you're on your own.

You can buy + activate SIM cards from Bell for the nice low price of $5 (another reason to hate Rogers). As long as the phone is 3G UMTS on the correct frequencies (ie check before you buy an unlocked phone from Asia), it'll work. It should be 850/1900/2100 for Bell if I remember correctly. That's what Technical Support told me. HSPA is a subset of UMTS so either will do.

The Xenon is no iPhone for sure, but $80 (what I paid, taxes in) with 3 years sure beats $500 + data or something stupid for an iPhone (I don't have data). The interface can be a bit annoying/quirky but you *should* be able to flip it after unlocking. Personally I'd never pay $280 (Bell's MSRP) for this phone though. I specifically got this phone because of the QWERTY keyboard (ie easy texting), and IMO that's the best part of the Xenon.
